Tom arrived ahead of schedule after calling to make sure that was ok. He did an excellent job of explaining the process he would use for cleaning the carpet. The work exceeded my expectation. The carpet was cleaner than I expected. It took less time than I anticipated and the price was more than reasonable. I would not hesitate to hire On the Spot again.

Steve at Cleanerup has the integrity, knowledge and professionalism that you want in a person who comes into your home and execute a great service. His extensive background in carpet cleaning and spot removal is beyond what other types of corporate carpet cleaners guess at. He is a small business man who approaches each job by understanding the basics of the carpet make up and counsel his customer on the best approach to the solution. I have a Berber carpet that needs cleaning twice a year and own a cat, I wouldn't hire anyone else to take care of my carpets in my home.

I've been using Maxwell Carpet cleaning for about 11 years now. The best part I love about them is whatever price they quote me over the phone, is always the final price. The quality they provide puts other carpet cleaning companies to shame. They specialize in commercial carpet cleaning, however provide residential as well. I have recommended them many times and will continue to.

I hired Breeze Carpet Cleaning to clean a town home that I rent out. The previous tenants had a dog and the high traffic areas were noticeably dirty. I honestly didn't expect much and had been considering whether the carpet would need to be replaced. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the carpets looked when Johnny was through! The carpet looks brand new which makes a world of difference when you're showing a home to potential tenants! On top of the fantastic job he did, Johnny's bid was very reasonable and he was available when I needed him. I had an excellent experience with Breeze Carpet Cleaning and would highly recommend this company. I certainly intend to use them in the future for all my carpet cleaning needs!

We were very pleased with the service that Amazing Green provided.. from the very first phone call, they were courteous and helpful. We had been thinking of getting new carpet because ours looked so bad after being beat up by 2 toddlers, 2 cats and a dog. But after Amazing Green cleaned them.. they seriously look like new. THere was no toxic chemicals used so it didn't smell bad at all and the carpets dried fairly quickly. We would highly recommend Amazing Green Carpet Cleaners.

My wife Eva and I are very pleased with the carpet and furnace vent cleaning that Eco Friendly Carpet Cleaning LLC performed in our new town home here in Edina. As you may recall, our town house had been abandoned for several months due to a bank foreclosure. The interior condition of our home was in dire need of a thorough cleaning due to much neglect. Eco Friendly Carpet Cleaning came to our rescue and eliminated all of the dust, dirt and grime that had collected in our carpets and furnace ducts. Thanks to your professional and very personal cleaning services, our town house looks and smells wonderful. Thanks for helping Eva and me to make our new home so bright and beautiful.

Everything was great. A few things could have been done that were missed but a lot was done that I hadn't expected. I don't know if the carpet cleaner was broken or something though but my carpet was wet for a few days after that's probably the only negative thing. Otherwise everything went wonderfully and Curtis and his team did great.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

What does carpet cleaning cost?

National average carpet cleaning prices range between $100 and $130. Carpet cleaning prices depend on how many square feet of carpet you want cleaned, how many rooms in one house or building will be cleaned, how stained your carpet is, how much the carpet cleaning company charges, your ZIP code, and the type of carpet you have. Cost per square foot can range from 20 cents to $1 or more, based on the above variables. Synthetic carpets are typically the least expensive to clean; natural fibers like wool cost more, as they require more care and attention, as well as more drying time. Excessive stains, challenging locations such as stairs, and accessibility also factor into your carpet cleaning price. Companies may charge a minimum service fee for cleaning a small carpet to cover their business expenses (paying employees, transporting the special equipment to your home). If your pet has repeatedly saturated the carpet with urine or if the fibers are extremely matted down, it may make more sense to completely replace your carpet than to continue to have it cleaned.
