- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A long, long time ago there was an ad placed in the local newspaper by an animal hospital seeking a veterinary technician. I applied without any experience only knowing that I have always had a connection with animals and finding employment that involved working with them would be a dream. I was very lucky because the veterinarians at the hospital recognized something in me and decided to invest in me and my potential as an employee there. After working for a several months the vets began to suggest that I also take up pet sitting and dog walking because they saw how much I enjoyed working with the animals. I took their advice and they could not have been more right! I love getting to pet sit. :)
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that the pet care provider not only makes you feel comfortable but your pet, too! It is invaluable to set up a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. Knowing that you, your pet, and the sitter are all on good terms makes your time away as stress free for you and your pet as possible.
