FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'm currently offering a discount of 20% off the first two hours of tutoring for new ACT or SAT students! I strongly recommend at least 90 minutes for test prep sessions, and my $50/hour rate applies to sessions of that length ($75/90 min). I offer a discount of $10 off per session on two-hour sessions ($90 instead of $100). I am open to offering one-hour sessions if a student has a strong preference, but they would be at a rate of $55/hour. A $30 fee may be charged for cancellations given with less than 24 hours' notice, and a $40 fee may be charged for no-shows.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I take an individualized approach to tutoring, so when I begin working with a new student, I focus on getting to know the student's specific challenges and strengths and what methods of teaching work best for that student. My teaching style is flexible, and I welcome feedback and specific requests from students.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While I do not have any specific teaching or tutoring certifications, I do have a BA in Psychology from Carleton College, high scores on my own standardized tests, and several years of experience preparing students for these exams.
