Jerrie was a pet sitter for my chihuahua Milo for years. She also would even house sit for me, and take care of him and my home when I was out of town. She was so patient with him despite him taking a long time to warm up to new people, he bonded with her right away. Jerrie is so natural with animals and such a kind and caring person. She goes above and beyond to send you updates, pictures, and even keeps a detailed notebook about how your dog does each time she dog sits and what activities they do (walking, playing, feeding). I trusted her completely to care for my dog and would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and responsive pet sitter.

We have a 6 month old kitty that we left for the 1st time when we went on vacation. Multiple people bid on the job from the Thumbtrack post. After an exchange of emails we hired Christine even though hers was not the lowest bid. She responded to each quickly and directly. Christine then came to our house to meet us and our kitten. Like many cats, ours doesn't warm to strangers, but Christine made good progress. While gone she visited our cat twice a day. During each visit she would text us with a message about how and what our cat was up to. Most of the time she included a fun photo. It was reassuring and allowed us to better enjoy our vacation! Christine even vacuumed the loose litter up from around the box. A task we did not ask her to do but tells you a lot about her character. We will have her back and I recommend her to others without hesitation.

5-day overnight pet sit of our two cats and dog plus midday dog walks. Our pets loved Megan and her staff. We received daily text updates with photos so we could tell how happy they were. No pet accidents inside the house either. Everything was well taken care of and the house was nice and tidy when we got back. Good price and well worth it for the peace of mind knowing our home and pets were being looked after every night we were away.

I would absolutely recommend Carried Away Clean. 1.) They did a really thorough deep-cleaning of our newly purchased house before we moved in. You can trust they will get the job done in detail! I've hired cleaners in the past which ended up costing more money and being less satisfied. Carried Away Clean provided 100% satisfaction for a very reasonable price. 2.) Jessica is so good at communicating. Some services are hard to get a hold of or are difficult to receive a response back. Jessica was so good at communicating - calling me back and answering all of my questions. 3.) Jessica was incredibly flexible with me when I unexpectedly had to change the time/day of our cleaning appt. I really appreciated how she worked to fit me in as best as possible. 4.) I love the non-toxic cleaning supplies. I had a great experience with Carried Away Clean and would definitely recommended their cleaning services.

Outstanding! I used Pampered Pooch Dog Walking (not to be confused with Pampered Pooch Playground) for an in home 4 day/night stay for my chocolate lab.I was a bit hesitant because having someone live in the home without being present is a big step, for me! My big chocolate could not have been taken care of better as well as my home! Pooch even got his morning PB toast. It was all left better than I left it, including shoveling some snow! I love this place and have no doubt I will use them again. I only hope I can get all the sitting dates I need once the word gets around!

Mandy did an AMAZING job at assisting us with our border collie puppy. There were many things we had to learn about handling a border collie as well as what methods to use when things are not going in our favor. Mandy was very patient and understanding with us and did a fantastic job at getting our puppy to follow commands. We had so much to learn that she ended up staying at our house almost three hours to ensure we had things under control before she left. She had a variety of methods to use if we felt one way might not work for us (such as scaring our puppy into a better behavior versus hanging out around the kennel until our little one would calm down). You can tell she enjoys her job and is very knowledgeable. Honestly, I would recommend her to anyone with puppy training needs!

Punctuality is not relevant in the situation of an out of town trip. Nan kept in touch with us during our 2 week trip out of country. Our cat’s area where he eats & uses his litter box was well kept. She proved to be highly responsible. She also house sit for us.

Sarah has been walking my dog, Angus, over the past 2 years. My dog has always been very shy and nervous and Sarah has always been patient with him and he warmed up to her very quickly! When we run into her on our walks, he always runs right up and wants to say hi to her! She is extremely responsive and reliable when I need her to dog sit or take Angus on additional walks. Her prices are extremely reasonable, and she does such a great job. She always sends photos from the daily walk and I can tell she genuinely cares about the dogs. I would recommend her services to anyone in need of a walker!

Alex has taken care of my english mastiff mix many times. The dog adores him. ALex has experience with large breeds, so he is not intimidated by their rambunctiousness and has a gentle firmness that the dog responds to very well. Besides, Alex is great to work with on the people side as far as communication and professional attitude. i highly recommend Alex for dog walking and dog sitting jobs.

I have been extremely happy with the care Lara at Clasen Dog Sitting has provided for my pets. Having a senior dog with serious health issues had me searching for someone I could trust who would provide extra TLC for her while I was away. I found that and more at Clasen Dog Sitting. Having someone home with Isabelle all day, allowing lots of lap-sitting, letting her follow them around 24/7, gave me great peace of mind. I have used their services many times and recommend them to anyone who is looking for professional and loving care for their dog.

      About

My business is great because of my over-10-year clients who keep me coming back because I love them like they are family; they treat me like family, and my clients have always been word of mouth and has been very successful so far. I do everything, from cleaning companies to homes and cabins. I'm asked by all to paint for my clients as I paint and clean as if I live there. I also do animal care and house watching, so my clients can take the vacations with no worries, as they deserve a few times in a year. I run a music studio during the day, so I'm well-rounded and great in the customer service aspect of it all. I have a BS in science for criminal justice with minor in German and am going for my masters now. I'm opening up an online craft store now, as crafting is my new love! I also have done tons of jobs doing cleanup after the death of people's loved ones and turnovers in 1 day for new rental clients for big apartment complexes and for many owners of many homes. I've done hoarding cleanup and am educated and trained in biohazard suits and equipment. I'm hoping that I may have the pleasure to meet each and everyone of you, and you can judge for yourself any ability that I may have and if you ask for a different job, I may have done that as well; if not, I'm willing to learn and try! See you soon!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

      • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
      • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
      • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
