Michael May is an excellent guitar teacher. I started with Mike recently and not only has my playing already dramatically improved, but my overall knowledge of how music works has greatly increased as well. Michael has a great ability to make very difficult concepts understandable, and he is well-prepared for each lesson. He is also a superb guitar player in his own right. I have taken guitar lessons at Twin Town, Blackbird's, several private instructors I found on CraigsList and am also currently taking a Minneapolis Community Education guitar class. He knows exactly what I am looking to obtain from lessons. He also does a fantastic job of making sure I understand where he is going with the lesson (and future lessons) and makes sure I fully understand before moving forward.

We engaged Michael to provide intermediate electric guitar method and music theory training for our 17 year old son, who is an advanced base player. Michael has exactly the skills, experience and professional approach for which we were looking. He offers a structured approach that allows my son to set goals and track progress, yet he is flexible and friendly. We highly recommend him.

Michael is a wonderful teacher! He has taught my son guitar for two years, and my son has improved tremendously -- he is now in his high school's top jazz band. He has gained so much knowledge about jazz theory and music in general from Michael, and he is always eager to go to his lessons (and that's rare!).
