We hired Cindy to walk our dog about three times a week. She has proven very dependable and trustworthy and has done a great job keeping our dog's morale up while we are at work. She has demonstrated some great flexibility to reschedule or change her availability when circumstances outside our control arise. She even keeps a fun journal of their daily activities to keep us up to date on what went on during the visit. Thanks Cindy!

Pets are Grand is simply the best. It is so comforting knowing Kati treats my pup as if it is her own! It is much easier leaving for several hours knowing my dog is in great hands! Highly recommended!

Thanks Lea. This was a great experience for me. Great tips and techniques on how to train my dog as well as how to understand my dogs breed specific behavior. Lea is more than a dog trainer, she's a dog expert. I wanted someone to teach me how to best teach my dog and that's what I got. Very reasonable price for that kind of experience. Thanks again, Lea.

I can't say enough good things about mother-daughter team Kristen and Natalie. It's obvious that they're doing this because they love being with animals. The first day I was gone they sent me a video of Natalie playing with my dog which I absolutely loved! I have never felt more comfortable with any dog sitter I have hired in the past. I knew that I could trust these two in my home and with my much beloved dogs. Kristen is professional, super friendly, and always responds quickly to messages. I have zero complaints and will use K&N Pet Sitting any time I need a sitter in the future!

I had to go out of town on a business trip, and my cat Gigi, and my yorkie, Bella, needed to be let out and fed twice a day. They hate the noise at dog boarding, so home care is what I prefer. Adrienne came every morning , and again on the evening , fed them, and played with them also. I was so happy to Find Adrienne at Halo Per sitting, to keep my fur kids calm and no disruption In their schedule. I plan on calling her every trip I have.

I have a black lab mix name Missy and she is not the best behaved dog outside of our house. We have issues with her pulling while she walks and also with aggression towards other dogs. Missy has started to work with Mike. Missy immediately showed improvement by not pulling and letting me lead the walk. He has also given me tips for walking Missy which have worked great including having her sit before crossing the street and getting her to lay down when other dogs approach. Additionally Mike has brought Missy to interact with his dogs as a start and she has shown no aggression towards them. I am not saying everything is solved, but Missy is off to a great start thanks to Mike!!!

Carol is very great with my pet! She is very good in communicating how each meeting went and is available to provide advice. My dog is very happy every time he gets to hang out with Carol. I would recommend her to a friend.

        About

I will keep an eye on your house while you're away or if you need someone to live in the house while you try to sell it. If you have a pet that needs to get out and walk, I can do that too.

        About

I'm a lifelong pet owner and pet lover.

        About

We walk dogs, feed dogs, play with dogs, and give medications to dogs. We love cats, too! We can take care of short-term or long-term pet sitting needs in your home only; we already have our own menagerie!

        About

I have assisted people in making nutritional diets easy and fun, been an extra hand in running errands or shuttling kids from one activity to another, along with caring for your home and loved ones while you provide for them. In taking care of your pets I under that they are part of the family and will treat them with the nurturing care they deserve. Hectic family lives and long hours at work make it hard to give your family and pets the exercise and attention they need. Let me save you time so that everyone at home is more happy and healthy.

        About

I have been around animals all my life. I seem to have a special rapport with animals. I love them all and enjoy walking, sitting, and occasionally grooming them.

        About

Hello my name is Sadie and I absolutely love dogs! I am a marketing major here at the university of Kansas. I have a husky/German Shepared named Lilli, back home in Minnesota. It's been hard being away from her for so long and not being able to go running, walking or playing with her, so I thought why not help others! :)

        About

I've been pet sitting for 22 years so I have experience with many different breeds and ages of dogs. This is my full time job, not something I squeeze in on the side. I am home with the dogs I board most of the time. I am very flexible with pick up and drop off times so it is convenient for my clients. I have 5 star ratings on Facebook, Yelp and Google. Check them out!

        About

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

        • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
        • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
        • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
        • What are your different walk routes?
        • When will you pick up and drop off?
        • How will we communicate?
        • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
        • What’s your cancellation policy?
        • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
        • How and how often do I pay you?
        • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
