FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is where I get to know you and your desires for your new space. Ill ask you a number of relevant questions, inventory your existing furnishings, photograph your space, and discuss your project budget and timeline. If needed, we will meet with your architect, and any other consultants involved, before beginning the next phase Design Development. Once I gather all the necessary information, I start to develop new space plans, furniture plans, and color palettes, as well as select your new interior finishes such as paint, wallcovering, flooring, ceiling and window treatments, moldings, cabinetry and countertops. This is also the phase when any custom-designed pieces or treatments would be sketched for your review. After I finish sourcing your job I meet with you to review the plans and finish selections and make any refinements needed. Then I finalize your design drawings and meet with you once more before starting the final detailing of your plans and ordering your furnishings, fixtures and equipment. In the final phase were engaged and were starting to build something new together. This phase is filled with excitement, surprises, and a few I-Never-Knew-It-Could-BeLike This exclamations, sprinkled with a Ohhh- Maybe-We Should Re-Visit The Budget moment. Designers (most) live for the Construction Phase! we get to see our ideas come to life and that smile on your face. I'll stop by the job site frequently to oversee the sub-contractors and ensure work is progressing on schedule and as planned. Then depending on the job... I'll meet with you weekly to address any of your concerns. Following construction, we coordinate the delivery and installation of your new furnishings, accessories and artwork. Its like Christmas morning all over again!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been interested in Interior Design ever since I could remember. When I was little I always wanted to change up the furniture in the house, and imagined other construction options for different spaces. My Father owned a paint company when I was in high school and that was the string that pulled me into my profession today. I studied all the types of paint and where to apply it. I started giving my friends and their parents advice on better furniture placement, lighting, paint choices ext. I realized I loved to change interior spaces. Once I connected all the dots to what I'm good at, I realized I wanted to be an Interior Designer!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with all different types of customers. Some have big projects, that can take months to finish up. Then you have the small projects that can be completed in less than two weeks. Each one of my customers is different in one way or the other. Everyone has a different preference in style and personality. My job is to help you design a space that reflects you and your lifestyle.
