Jeremy installed our dishwasher despite some unusual original setup with the drain and water line. He was on time, courteous, and helpful. The dishwasher works really well and I'm very happy with the service I received.

I posted a request for a plumber after 8p on a Wednesday night. I had hoped to get someone to fix my clogged drain that same night because it had flooded my basement and there was water everywhere. I spoke with Aundre, who could not come out this particular night, but he did offer to contact one of his colleagues for me if I absolutely needed assistance immediately. I opted to wait until morning since Aundre assured me I would be his first appt of the day and gave me an eta of 8:25a. By 9a the following morning Aundre had already been to my home, diagnosed the problem, repaired my clogged basement drain and was into his next appt. He arrived at 7:45a which I was thrilled about since I had asked him to come as early as a possible. Aundre was polite, professional, reasonably priced, fast and efficient! I highly recommend his services without reservation.

Kaleb Glass installed my new Flat screen TV on a full motion Sanus mount which I had purchased online. He arrived about 1 hour early. He was very polite and professional. He took extra time to evaluate my opinions on the placement of my TV. He prepared his work area with a drop cloth to protect my carpeting. Talk about customer service, while he was at my home the tornado sirens went off and we were under a tornado warning during the complete installation. He never hesitated a bit and kept concentrated on his job at hand. I listened to the weather radio and kept him posted of the storms activity. He finished the install in about an hour and the storm passed us without incident. He cleaned up his work area and did an excellent job, even with all the weather distractions. He is a true professional and I would HIGHLY recommend his services to anyone. I will be calling on him again in the future. His price for the installation was also the best I had received. I give him 10 stars because he deserves it. Thanks again Kaleb, says Mr. Randolph.

Mark was great to work with and I'd definitely use him and refer him to others without hesitation. He responded to request for bid promptly, then came out on a Sunday morning to open a clogged drain pipe.

My project that I needed help with was installing a storm door. I felt like he was very up front of what the cost and time would take. It felt like he took his time to install it correctly and it's a perfect fit. I would highly recommend!

WJR Plumbing was responsive to a clogged kitchen sink providing service in less that 24 hours of posting. He knew what needed to be done. Job required tools that were not available at time of service but he returned the next day. Only disappointment was the water that got on the carpet from the release of the water in the drain and the kicked over bucket of dirty water. But he did take time to dry-vac the area before he left.

Kyle was a good guy. Friendly. My laundry room flooded while washing and he cleared the drain. Ran the washer to ensure the clog was gone. Gave a 30 day warranty on his work. He even checked the slow drain on my bathtub (will fix later). I would use Kyle again and recommend him to others. I was skeptical about thumbtack at first but it all worked out.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
