We were fortunate enough to have Reese as the videographer for our wedding. Reese was professional, and truly awesome to work with. He captured everything beautifully, and did so in a way that didn’t interfere with anything. He’s extremely talented, and it shows in his work. We couldn’t recommend Reese enough.

From the beginning of meeting David he was extremely accommodating, easy to work with, not to mention talented! He puts his clients first which proves by his simple ask of "where's convenient for you to meet up?" From our initial meeting, David was very professional and both my fiance and I felt extremely comfortable around him. His welcoming demeanor makes for a comfortable photo shoot for both engagement photos and our wedding photos! He has a way of being stealthy and silent to capture real moments that you had no clue he was able to even get, along with speaking up and making people comfortable when necessary such as around kids or people who may be shy when taking photos. I love how David truly loves what he does, and feels like a part of your family or friend on your day- all of our friends and family loved him and his crew of videographers/photographers. We were blown away by our pictures when we got them! It was rainy on our wedding day during our time to take pictures so David thought of some creative alternatives and got some other wonderful photos as a back up! For them being a backup, we couldn't have asked for anything better when we got our photos back! We will certainly use David again for family photos and any other photos in the future!

Tiffany S. was our videographer for our big day. She was very calming throughout the process and went above and beyond to help organize and orchestrate the day. We really appreciated how much time she spent getting to know us and learning about our vision for our wedding day. She was very attentive and flexible logistically. She is super sharp and willing to do whatever it took to keep us happy. The final product was unbelievable. We highly recommend Tiffany and we're so thankful to have these memories for life.

Great videographer! Showed up early, and worked fast! Also, was an asset to have an Equity actor to read sides with me while I was being videoed. Was great working with my crazy schedule, and putting it all together under a time crunch! Fantastic!

Working with Bobby was a fantastic experience. I recently took Bobby on a high profile, 3-day shoot in North Carolina. Bobby was extremely impressive to not only me, but to the clients as well. He exhibited a great understanding of videography from both the technical aspects as well as storytelling. I couldn’t be more impressed. He paid attention to the small details and had a great “can-do” attitude the entire trip. I have already booked Bobby for two more multiday shoots out of state and plan on continuing to use him as often as possible. Having worked with countless videographers and agencies in the KC area, I would highly encourage anyone to consider Bobby for your next video project. His skill level and attitude is hard to match in the area. Thanks Bobby, looking forward to working with you on many more projects!

No human could be disappointed with the work of Andrew Stoner. Andrew has taken many photos and videos for us, including our engagement and wedding. I am not a sappy person, but every time I watch the wedding video, I cry. He's a top rate gentleman and an even better photographer.

I cannot recommend Minor Media Works enough! I used Minor Media Works to film my wedding and provide a four minute highlight video. Sean, the owner, and his assistant did an amazing job capturing the video the day of and editing the highlight video. My husband and I are so extremely happy with the way the video turned out and all our friends and family are super impressed. When we contacted Sean, we sent an example of a very professional wedding video that we liked the look of and Sean was able to provide the same high quality look while adapting to our preferences and venue. If you're on the fence about spending the money on a videographer, it is well worth the money, and does a much better job of capturing the details and highlights of the day than photos. Sean went above and beyond to make our wedding video special, and even made additional edits to the highlight video after putting it together. Honestly, this was the best money we spent on our wedding!

Keaton has a great eye. He can make the most boring event look like a magical one. His editing skills are where his art comes to life. He does all of the work himself, so the cost is lower than what you might pay for something of equal quality.

I had one of the best experiences working with Andrea. From the start she was very adamant about making sure the vision I had for the wedding video was captured exactly how I wanted. I filled out the questionnaire on her website which was detailed and helpful in getting my wedding timeline sorted. Any time I had a question, Andrea was always very responsive and attentive to my needs. She was available anytime I needed her. On the wedding day she was punctual and she knew what to do, where to go, and how to capture the essence of my wedding. That’s honestly what I appreciate most because I didn’t have to worry about one thing! I am very much looking forward to the full short film because the trailer was FANTASTIC. Andrea has a very good eye for detail and made sure all my hard work was presented. I would HIGHLY recommend Creative Reflections to any bride looking for a caring, kind, professional, and quality videographer for their BIG day.

We hired videographers from dXd Publications to help us (another video production company) to record a large multi track conference. There were a few issues the first day but those were addressed and fixed for the last two days of recording. It was a pleasure to work with Leonard McKinzy and his crew. They were prompt and on time. I would hire again if I have work in the location.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
