Installation of Double oven and removal of the old double oven. Steve responded quickly and came out same day. Had to enlarge opening by 1/4 inch requiring pulling it back out and required moving the refrigerator. Steve did this without comment. Proper installation and wiring. Would refer Steve to anyone.

Work completed 11/11/15. Painted 7 rooms/6 ceilings as well as entry, hallway & stairway to basement, removed popcorn from 1 ceiling, removed wallpaper from kitchen prior to painting. Patrick and Randy were personable, professional and punctual every day, with very good attention to detail with taping, repairing holes/cracks, sanding and painting. They worked quietly and efficiently. If it wasn't for the fact that the furniture was all over the house to accommodate the painting, we wouldn't even know they were there. They vacuumed each room after it was finished and moved furniture back in place. While they were here, we had some rewiring done that resulted in 2 small squares cut out of a hallway wall. Patrick patched it and you can't tell there was ever a hole. Very pleased with Bates and their staff, from owners to painters, and will not hesitate to use them again.

I have been working with William for over two years, first as one of my employees and then as a subcontractor. William does excellent work with removing wallpaper and prepping walls for paint. He’s fast, professional, and will work hard until the job is done. I’ve used him at my house and at my job sites and cannot recommend him highly enough. HIRE WILLIAM!

Matt did a great job on my wallpaper removal. The wall was not sized when the original wall paper was put in so it was quite a job. I highly recommend Matt and Big Sky Wallcovering.

Tim was wonderful to work with!! We hired him to remove all of our popcorn ceilings and then ended up having him stain our beams in the living room and paint a lot of our wood work as well! We would definitely hire him again and hopefully will for some other projects in the future! He is highly knowledgeable about the painting profession and everything ended up absolutely stunning! We couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Miguel was very conscientious, and highly responsive. Friendly and extremely easy to work with. He did a rush job and painted and removed popcorn from my whole house in 6 days, yet the results did not look looked rushed at all. He even came back after we moved in and installed and painted some trim. He asked lots of questions on how we would like things done. Crew was very professional, and clean. Would highly, highly recommend First Choice Painting.

David has done many projects for us over many years. My wife and I highly recommend him. David recently painted the exterior of our 3-story home, and replaced wood that had rotted. He helped with color selection, one of his specialities. His work is exceptional, great attention to detail. He also painted our interior, including texturing the kitchen. Still looks great 10 years later. David is an expert in many areas, including carpentry and electrical. He can basically fix anything, especially those nagging items you've lived with for years. He is punctual, friendly and trustworthy. Best contractor we've ever had.

    About

I basically have lived the past 30 years of my life trying to learn and perfect as many trades and services possible. I say there is no job that is too big or too small. I'm experienced in electrical, roofing, framing and painting. I have 20 years of experience using chainsaws for every type of tree and stump removal scenario you could imagine. I do heat and A/C installation, removal, services, and repairs. This is going on my second year as a Kansas resident. I would seriously love to see my home, auto, boat, building, motorcycle, and R/V detailing sectors grow. You see, as a little boy, I idolized my grandfather because I was blessed with getting to be stuck by his side for many years and to this day he's still the single most happy successful entrepreneur I've ever encountered. With every single job, I keep the saying my grandfather burned into my young little brain, "Excellence Is In The Details" and I pledge that regardless of the size, type of whatever job you so gratefully bless me with, I will never fail to apply that very principle to your property. Please don't ever rush into anything when it comes to hiring for these areas of work. I personally and professionally guarantee all work and provide free estimates to everyone equally. I provide an emergency electrical, heat and A/C 24-hour service.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:

      • Foyer: 36-120 square feet, $21.60-$180.
      • Powder room: 16-36 square feet, $9.60-$54.
      • Living or dining room: 120-252 square feet, $72-$378.
      • Family room: 192-384 square feet, $115.20-$576.
      • Bedroom: 100-224 square feet, $60-$336.
      • Guest bath: 45-84 square feet, $27-$126.
      • Master bedroom: 168-384 square feet, $100.80-$576.
      • Master bath: 54-160 square feet, $32.40-$240.

Once the old wallpaper is gone, the average cost to install new wallpaper is $240-$350.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
