During the writing of my book, The Apple Doesn’t Fall Too Far in Maple Brook, I was incredibly fortunate to find Richard Lowenstein as my editor. Richard blessed my book with the professionalism and organization that it had lacked. Richard was a great editor to work with, as he brought out my creative writing skills. And he always made himself available for any questions I might have. An extremely easy and enjoyable person to communicate with, he made sure that my book was sound and was edited to my complete satisfaction. His professional prowess awakened my book and pulled the reader into the world of Kawan and his many different experiences. Five stars richly deserved!

We hired this amazing tutor to help teach our son some basic science facts and answer various science and math questions. He not only met, but far, far exceeded our expectations and we will be using him again and again. He is simply a brilliant and engaging tutor who can explain even very difficult concepts to make them understandable to children of all ages. He is a published physics PhD who, as a father of five sons, knows how to relate to children and get them interested in science and math. He is also very well-traveled and teaches in a relaxed, conversational manner that makes learning enjoyable.

Elicia Stoll is an amazing proof reader an editor. With an outstanding professionalism she has been able to exquisitely edit all three of my award-winning novels in The Demon Side Series. I truly believe without Elicia's stellar editing abilities, quick turn-around, and educate insightfulness, I never would have become a published author. I highly recommend Elicia Stoll for all of your proofreading and editing needs!

Suzy Moore is exceptional! What a great eye. She was a delight to work with as my editor at The Christian Pulse. So much so that I was thrilled to have her work on a book project as well. Professional, very detailed, kind--she's got it all!

Cindy was my editor for my first self-published book, "Ride On!" and she has helped me tremendously on making my story come alive. Since I am not a writer by trade, she worked with me on skills I needed to improve, offered many suggestions, and mostly spent time with me. I highly recommend her for your writing and editing purposes.

Steve converted my family 8 mm home movies to DVD. A daunting task since there was a lot of footage. Not only was he very professional, but sincerely cared about preserving these priceless moments. I highly recommend that you use Steve, you'll be very happy with the results.

Rick Bolner Austin, TX 78749 May 21, 2010 To Whom It May Concern: I have had the pleasure of knowing Dawn Lenz for the past five years. On many occasions she reviewed my fictional work and always offered keen insights and an attention to detail that I seldom received from others, including published novelists. Perhaps most helpful to me was her understanding of my work and what I wanted to achieve. With specific examples and suggestions, she told me how my work would—or wouldn’t—succeed. Dawn never hijacked my work or its intended outcome. In addition to her comprehension of fiction, her application of formatting, grammar, and punctuation was exceptional. I recently read her novel Winged Victory. In it, she demonstrates her understanding of the far-reaching requirements of fiction. The plot had great narrative energy; her plot-point spins were perfectly timed, and she did a superb job of getting her protagonist into tough situations throughout the story. I found the predicaments believable, and the specifics with which she rendered them, convincing. Also, the story is replete with entertaining incidents. Her use of sensual details, which are essential to good fiction writing, added to the dramatic effect. I never gave pause to her dialogue. It was artfully set up through supporting narrative to give its delivery a pop and rhythm. Also, she skillfully used dialogue tags—character’s actions used in lieu of "he said, she said" locutions—which is an earmark of a serious pro. Her setting of ancient Greece was compelling and accessible for me as a reader who knows little of that milieu. The physical descriptions, with other details, ratcheted up her verisimilitude and the overall power of the story. The narrative energy, along with its tightness, and professional presentation made me feel very comfortable and confident that the author would deliver. I wasn’t disappointed. Obviously, if she knows how to achieve this in her own work, certainly it’s fair to expect her to share these insights and talents with you. Whether you’re writing a literary novel, genre fiction, or if you just need a critical review of grammar and construction, I know Dawn will offer very valuable advice to you. Sincerely, Rick Bolner

I used Treasure's editing services in drafting poems for a picture book manuscript. She saw areas of strength that I did not see and she gave pointers for improving the weak areas of my manuscript.

After great frustration with trying to self-design a book cover for a soon to be published political, action thriller novel, I asked Megan to lend some expertise to the project. To put it mildly, I was blown away by the graphics and overall design of the cover. Her work was first class. She offered me three different design choices to choose from with a very cogent explanation for each. All three were more than I could have expected. I have a degree in photography and art fron the University of Missouri, Columbia. I can recognize quality work when I see it. Her work was impressive enough that I will be contracting her for cover designs on three other novels that I have completed. I would recommend Megan's work with no reservations.

Because I'm not just about the rules of editing, I'm about the craft of fiction. As published author and somebody with more than 25 years publishing experience under my belt, I'm not new to the game. I really love to work with writers who really want to be better writers, not just have me dot their i's and cross their t's. Writing is an art, after all. Working with dedicated writers; treating each book individually. After all this is your baby! And it deserves the best!

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

            • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
            • Strong writing skills.
            • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
            • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
            • Expertise in your target area.
            • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

            • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
            • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
            • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
            • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
