This was the most disappointing experience ever. I reached out because I was looking for my birth mother. I provided some information, all that I had on her. I've never hired to PI before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Randy assured me that he'd be able to find her. I sent him $300 of the $600 free to begin work. After about a week, I hadn't heard from him so I reached out. He said he was having a tough time tracking down information, did I have any more to share. Honestly, in this day with all the info available to us, if I had more information I would just find her myself! Another two week went by and still no word. I reached out again. He originally told me he found an address he was researching. The email he referenced two and a half weeks later was different than in his first email back to me. The last correspondence from him was on May 9th. I haven't heard anything since. I think it's safe to assume I hired someone incapable of the job.
I would suggest that if you are going to hire someone like this, you agree to the expectations and deliverables upfront. I did not. I foolishly expected more. Opening a search for my birth mother was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. This result made it ever harder. I would most definitely NOT recommend hiring Randy Carpenter.
UPDATE TO MY REVIEW:
Literally about 10 minutes after I posted this review, the company emailed me and threatened me with legal action if I did not remove my review. Specially they said, "I will forward the review to my lawyer as it falls under slander when you spread untruths without proof. I would remove the review unless you want legal action." Just clear something up, slander is spoken defamation and libel is written defamation. Neither of which I committed. A review is an account of a person's experience with a particular business. In my case, my experience was not a good one. And if you do have proof that you've been working on this case, it would have been nice had you communicated that to me instead of waiting until after I posted a review. Nonetheless, you are still dandling a carrot without any evidence.
Further, your statement that said, "to give us a horrible review for a measly 300 dollars." While this is an incomplete statement, or question maybe, $300 is not a measly amount to some people. It wasn't the money that made this experience a bad one. It was your lack of communication, empty promises, and conflicting information.
No ethical business allows bullying of their customers.

Absolutely great experience with stldetectives.com. they provided a written contract and started on my case immediately. Within the last 2 days they have obtained the evidence of my wife running around with a co worker. I have the pictures and video to prove it.
Excellent company and Randy Carpenter was professional and put me at ease.

So far so good. They obtained some video and are track on providing me proof. Daily reports with video clips are great and for no extra charge. Everything was handled over the phone including a detailed confidential contract. I would recommend
