Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Our philosophy for dog obedience is simple- build a foundation and have fun with your dog! We only use humane and effective methods that have been proven to work. We have trained over a thousand dogs in the St. Louis and Illinois area. We are highly recommended by clients, veterinarians, and others in the industry. We spend the time with you upfront in a free evaluation to make sure training with us is a good fit. Due to our ability to understand dogs and drive results, we have built successful boarding and day care programs to complement our training. We utilize a variety of proven training techniques. Not all dogs respond to a single method of training so we don't rely on one method. Our goal is to help you achieve your training goals while making it fun and educational for you. If you and your dog are having a good time learning, the better the results! Our promise to all of our training clients is to work with you until you are satisfied with your dog’s progress. Our techniques incorporate all facets of learning theory, the most important being operant conditioning and positive reinforcement. We teach using motivational and reward based methods. We feel that dogs, like humans, learn through consequence- whether it be positive or negative, but that if you spend the time teaching and rewarding positive behaviors, negative consequences can be greatly reduced or eliminated. Most importantly, we believe if you teach dogs desired behaviors, dogs will respond to verbal cues and correct behaviors on their own! We believe that using motivational techniques, you can build a wonderful relationship with your dog. PROVEN METHODS FOR TRAINING A DOG Our programs are designed with your success in mind, from private lessons, to group classes, puppy training, and in kennel training- we offer it all! In addition, we give training clients access to our online resource center which has videos, course outlines, tips, and "Ask the trainer" that will help you solve any of your training issues. Our personal training dogs are our pets, and most of them are rescues or surrenders. We have dealt with the same types of pet struggles, from basic obedience to aggression, that may have affected you. We understand how difficult it can be managing your life and your dog that just wont listen! We genuinely want to help you and your pet because too many times we see what the sad alternatives are. Our founder, Shannon Mayfield, went through several trainers and behaviorists that did a better job selling her a training package than actually training. After adopting a rescue dog with severe aggression issues, she sought professional help. She met with three clicker trainers, two prong collar trainers and one remote collar trainer. She quickly realized most dog trainers didn't understand dog behavior and learning, but instead pushed one method because it was all they knew. She found herself extremely disappointed in the dog training available which motivated her to seek out as much knowledge as possible. She continued working with her dogs privately and eventually pursued dog training as her career. She has traveled all over the country to further her education through formal schooling, workshops, and seminars. She is versed in all training methods and has developed her skills by working with renowned pet and sport trainers. She has always been open to new ideas and methods dependent on individual situations. Her multifaceted approach has become the No Leash Needed standard for all our trainers. At No Leash Needed we love our jobs because we get to provide real world results for our clients. Having happy clients is what we love to do. Having the opportunity to teach dogs to be happy, well behaved members of your family is why we smile every day at No Leash Needed.

I signed up for lessons at No Leash Needed after talking to three other training companies in the area. Most of them offer the same services and I was just looking for basic obedience. I liked Shannon the best, she seemed to know what she was talking about and was very down to earth. My dog seemed to like her instantly and now gets very excited to see her. I was really happy because my dog isn't that big and I really didnt want to put a big shock collar or prong collar like other trainers suggested but I also didnt have any luck with the clicker classes. Shannon didnt think the collars were necessary and so far we have been having great results through some private lessons. I think it was a little bit higher priced than I was expecting but I am very happy and actually enjoy training my dog.

"who's on first base?" This will be your experience at No Leash Needed on Hampton. The only semi-reasonable adult is the manager, Lisa, and that is questionable. Everyone else working at No Leash Needed is 22-25 years old. I have no idea if any staff member is certified to work with dogs, etc. You will notice No Leash Needed will not tell you if anyone has any certifications to work with animals. I paid $400 for puppy pre-school and never received information as to what my puppy would learn, even though I asked. I was informed my puppy would be transported to another facility for training, since there is more "space at the other location". I informed the manager Lisa and co-manager Chelsea that my puppy was having trouble adjusting to their 4-hour training program per day (my puppy did not want to enter the establishment which was unusual) and I wanted training decreased to 2-3 hours. They refused and said "we will give Denver more naps". Excuse me?? This is my dog and sometimes one formula does not fit all. Then I was charged a late fee for picking up my puppy after 12pm the night after boarding him, even though I paid $400 for puppy preschool and he should have been in training until 530pm. After a few inquiries about the late fee the manager finally acknowledged I was charged incorrectly and I would be issued a 'credit" to use in the future. REALLY?? Who makes a mistake on an invoice and issues a store credit?? Fast forward, the manager Lisa tells me I will received "free" puppy training classes since I participated in puppy pre-school. Chelsea, the co-manager tells me I need to pay $30 in order to attend puppy training classes even though I paid for puppy pre-school. Again, mixed messages.."who's on 1st base?". The final straw came after I noticed a small sign in the window warning dog owners about a dog flu outbreak in Chicago. I confessed to Lisa that Denver and I were in Chicago a few weeks ago during a normal drop-off at 730am. Lisa responded by telling me they "may not be able to keep Denver" (although Denver spent the entire week at day care after the trip to Chicago the previous week) and Lisa began peppering me with random questions which made no sense "did your dog use grass where other dogs may have been while in Chicago?" REALLY? They must not travel often, Chicago is a huge city and most live in apartments and walk dogs outside, no yards. Plus Chicago has millions of residents and millions of dogs. Yes, it is unfortunate 5-6 dogs died. But I did what I could to protect my dog while in Chicago, no dog parks - no dog day care (not that I had time during a 3-day trip). I told my vet what happened and he even laughed, then advised I find a new daycare. No Leash Needed never sent emails to members warning them against the dog flu and never said if your dog has been to Chicago they may not be allowed. If YOU DON'T PUT THIS IN WRITING, DON'T BULLY YOUR CUSTOMERS AFTER THE FACT! GET A POLICY AND PLAN IN PLACE FIRST. Lucky for me, I notice the total incompetence a few weeks ago and already started interviewing other daycare facilities. Like I told the manager "your thinking is a** backwards"..come to the 21st century with the rest of America.

I have used NLN for puppy classes and the day training program. They exceeded my expectations and I have been a loyal client of their other services too. I really enjoyed that the trainers seemed to actually care about my dog and how we were progressing each day. I recommend them to anyone.
