Returning to piano lessons after 30 years, I couldn't have asked for a better experience than Kim Cann's Piano Lab. Kim has been responsive and accommodating to me in getting things set up. My teacher, Alex Watson, is encouraging, makes sure to get in things I am interested in, and adds material to make lessons fun. I also admire Kim's project for community outreach in developing a music lending library. Great folks! I would recommend to anyone.

I was not sure if my six year old son would have the attention span to take guitar lessons. Steve gave us a free consultation and afterwards advised that my son would be able to successfully follow the lessons. After 4 mos, my son still loves it. Steve is great with kids and redirecting them if they go off track. I highly recommend the Summit Academy!

I'm thoroughly enjoying my piano lessons with Jack. He's fun, patient, organized, and methodical in his approach to instruction. Every week, he has something new and interesting for me while also reinforcing previous lessons. He offers practical suggestions and explanations that help me understand how it all fits together without neglecting the power of emotion and instinct. I'd briefly tried piano lessons as a teenager and even though I desperately wanted to learn how to play, I found the slow pace and rigid technique so dull and tedious that I lost interest after just two lessons. I can't possibly imagine losing interest now. It's clear that Jack loves music and luckily for us, he has a gift for teaching it as well.

I was a voice student of Hillary Trumpler during my time in Asheville. Hillary was an excellent teacher, and perfect for me. As a 70-year-old who had never had voice lessons, I had a lot of things to learn, and it was obvious that Hillary was really skilled in teaching those things. She worked with my muscle control, breathing, song tone and strength, accent (in foreign songs), and so on. In each aspect it was obvious that she had the background and skill to teach effectively. Besides all of that, it was a pleasure to work with her. She’s very patient and affirming, and was very obviously invested in both improving my skills, and in helping me enjoy singing. I’d recommend Hillary Trumpler as a voice teacher without reservation. Josh Fisher Jacksonville, FL

As an adult, I was a bit nervous to start taking piano lessons again after quitting sometime during high school. However, Angela was a consistent, godly, very encouraging teacher, and I loved taking lessons from her!

I've been taking voice lessons for a couple of months, and I'm very pleased with the improvements I've made under Andrew's instruction. He is a top-notch music teacher--good at honestly assessing my strengths and weaknesses, and skilled at demonstrating and helping me learn the specific exercises that will help me improve. He's also a master at adjusting his approach based on how well (or poorly) I'm responding to a particular exercise. I am a lifelong music student (piano, music theory), but this is my first time taking voice. As a middle-aged adult who has never been a good singer, I was nervous about taking voice lessons; it was an enormous step out of my comfort zone! Andrew, however, has managed to make me feel very comfortable about taking lessons. He is both personable and professional, not to mention a talented musician and an excellent teacher. I honestly look forward to my voice lesson each week. I've recommended him to friends, and I'm happy to recommend him here!

I'd gladly say it was a pleasure learning and growing musically from Dr. K. Scott Eggert. He's taught me everything I need to know from reading music to breathing methods in vocal lessons. Throughout all the years of working with coaches and instructors Mr. Eggerts efforts back in 2008-2009 has helped me grow, and mold me into the courageous artist I have become today. Thanks to his amazing vocal techniques and musical ability one could only be fortunate enough to work with him and his patience. He was always on time and very serious about teaching music lessons with great passion and dedication. Dr. K. Scott Eggert has inspired me not only to cherrish and preserve my love for music but never give up when challenges arise...only to try harder and expect an even greater outcome.

Marilynn is an outstanding teacher. She taught all four of my children piano during the past six years. She also taught my oldest daughter voice lessons and my youngest son how to play the recorder. She always did an amazing job of working with their interests and different ability levels, encouraging them in a very professional way while also being like a member of our family. We are so sorry that she has moved. She is irreplaceable.

About

I offer a non-traditional, liberal approach to music lessons. It's my belief that teaching appreciation and love for music is as important as teaching scales and other music theory. Rather than assigning a strict, specific curriculum like many other teachers, I encourage students to have a say in the songs they learn. Students are more likely to stick with lessons if they're playing music they like rather than traditional, boring pieces. However, students will still be taught all the fundamentals of music theory. My curriculum is more flexible than strict, and can be altered to the individual student's needs as I get to know him or her. I'm particularly passionate about teaching piano because it is the ultimate gateway instrument. A solid foundation in piano will give your child a huge advantage in future music studies. If a student learns piano and the basics of music theory in elementary school, it will be very easy to transition into a wood or brass instrument once concert band is offered in middle school. I've taught kids as young as seven and as old as seventeen, so I am open to teaching any age past kindergarten. I can also teach a wide range of skill sets, from students who have never touched a piano to older intermediate students who have already had a few years of lessons. I encourage parents to be involved in the learning process. I'd love to meet with you to discuss your expectations and ultimate goals for your child. If you would even like to sit in on parts of lessons to learn with your child, that would be great. Currently, I am living in West Asheville. For now, I can only teach at your home, but I am moving into a new apartment at the start of February and will then be able to teach from there. Thanks for reading. I hope you will consider me as a potential piano instructor!

For my piano teaching services, I charge $15/lesson; for my language lessons, I charge $15/lesson as well. I am just learning HTML programming, along with CSS & javascript, but feel confident enough in my current skills, combined with what I learned during college, to be able to design any website you may need. Please note, I said design (programming the site is something I look at as more or less overlapping)... I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about getting a site put out on the internet. Anyhow, for my website design service, since I'm just starting out, I won't charge an arm and leg - although I could if I so desired!! Website design services: For small projects, $10/hour, medium sized projects, $15/hour, and for large projects, $20/hour. Please keep in mind that most web designers who've been doing this for much longer than myself charge anywhere from $60 - $100/hour - this according to Meredith Lepore on skillshare - so I feel that if you choose to come to me for web design, you are getting a bargain, while I'm still getting experience + money!! As far as how my service "stands out".... hmmm.... I really am not sure. How does anyone else "stand out" in their daily lives and the services which they provide?

I help students to grow as wonderful human beings with their own musicianship. They learn not only to "play" the piano, but also learn to communicate through playing music. I teach students at all levels and help them to become independent teachers for themselves.

I am offering lessons in piano and keyboard. I am equally comfortable teaching classical or contemporary music. I customize the lessons to each student's needs. I can teach you to read music or teach you music theory and chords to help you play by ear. For those who are interested in playing synthesizer with a band, I have a lot of experience in setting up sounds, programming modules, and using virtual instruments and music software. I can teach you these things as well.
