FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $30 for a half-hour lesson. $40 for an hour. $25 for a half-hour. If I travel to you there is an additional $5 per lesson fee. A year's contract will earn you a free student level guitar or bass, although contracts are by no means necessary. Small print: Half of the expected fee is due for missed lessons without 24 hour notice. Of course, if I travel to your place, and only then discover that the lesson has been cancelled, I still charge the $5 travel fee (unless it is my fault). Conversely, if I forget and miss your lesson without warning, your next lesson is half off.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I read, and listen to what other people are doing. I have occasionally taken classes (such as a song-writing workshop). Mostly, I learn from teaching, strange as that may sound. At least that keeps me exposed to musical styles I may not have found on my own.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love music, so I started playing. After a while I discovered that I was getting skilled enough to teach other people.
