Brooke helped me edit a section of a novel I'm working on. We did this remotely, as we live in different countries.
Brooke has a passion and a fantastic eye for literature. She saw what was working in the excerpt as well as what wasn't, and she found effective ways of giving feedback about both. Her insights into character were particularly striking. She is a deft, caring editor who became genuinely involved with the story, and any writing would be improved by her attention.
Keeping in touch with Brooke can be a challenge. I did receive the work a little after the deadline we had initially set, and for a little while it wasn't clear that the editing would be done in time. Brooke has the talent and the skill; more focus on logistical planning would make the editing process smoother. That's the only thing keeping me from giving her an "outstanding" rating - her talent, skill, and passion certainly rate that high.
