This is the third time that I've used this company. They did an excellent job cleaning my house and removed heavy pet stains from my carpet! I was pleasantly surprised, I had been trying to remove the stains for years. On the way out they noticed that my lawn needed cutting. They returned after a couple of days to cut it. I was so happy and pleased with this company. They took care of my house my carpet and my lawn all for the low low price of $235.00!!!!! Thank you CRiv!!

Tina was trustworthy and dedicated to our animals and our home while we were out of town. She handled our two dogs and three cats for several days. We felt confident that our animals were in great hands and would recommend Tina for house/pet sitting.

After a bad experience with a pet kennel, I tried in home care and hired Drew and Shannon Hyde at Leash Life. Just an amazing difference! I was nervous to have someone in my home but they were wonderful, sending me pics and video every day to let me know my cat, Melman, was doing well. When I returned home, I found my mail placed on the credenza and a very happy cat. If you can avoid caged care---even if it's an expensive cat condo---I highly recommend Drew & Shannon's service. Despite assurances from the kennel facility that my cat would not come in contact with other cats, he came home with a nasty abscess my vet said could only have come from another cat's claw or bite. Lesson learned. I will now only use Leash Life in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed having Jenna be my pet sitter for my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Jenna was professional, courteous and exceptionally reliable. She put my worries to ease as I had to schedule her last minute. I am so happy to have found Jenna and will definitely be using her again in the future. :)

We've had great experiences with Happy Tailz! Very trustworthy, caring and professional which gives me the peace of mind when traveling. I have a 6 year old Labradoodle who gets anxiety when left alone or at a kennel. I can tell she is well taken care of by Melody because I come home to a happy and health dog. I would highly recommend Happy Tailz to anyone looking for a pet sitter and/or dog walker.

We have loved having Fran help us train our Golden Retriever puppy, Finnegan! We bought the puppy package of 3-4 visits. She is very knowledgeable, personable, flexible and great at what she does! We were going to go to one of the pet stores for puppy training, but read about her services and called her up! We are so glad we did!! It was SO helpful that she came to our house so she could show us in our own surroundings (as opposed to a pet store) the best way to handle our issues with our puppy including walks, issues in the back yard, jumping on people walking in the front door, puppy biting, etc. We definitely recommend her for training your dog!!! :) Thanks, Fran!!! We were in a real delima when a newly adopted dog attacked our dog. Our Vet highly recommended Katie at Top Dog. A quick call luckily resulted with an appointment the following day. Katie's professional experience with behavioral issues quickly revealed the root cause of the attack. Additionally, her observations moved her to advise us that more trouble would be in store for us if we tried to keep these two dogs together. We were thankful for her expertise and honesty for the sake of the dogs and for our family. Shortly after Katie left as we were considering our situation, her observations were almost played out again when another instance of anger and agitation occured. End of story is that we found another home where the new dog was the only pet in the house. If and when we need a trainer Katie at Top Dog will be only call we make.

We feel very fortunate to have met Laura. She is a passionate pet lover. Laura is dependable, trustworthy and has a very strong work ethic. She has been our pet sitter for the past year and we've used her for visits and walks as well as overnight stays. She works well with both cats and dogs~ and we have a very active German Shepherd and a dual cat household (indoor kitties). When we lost our miniature schnauzer this past week; Laura came by to say goodbye since she and Jack had bonded and she was very concerned. Laura goes above and beyond~ you won't be disappointed!

Libby was great! She was at ease with the dogs from the moment she met them and they felt the same. Even the simple tasks of replying to texts/phone calls was like pulling teeth with other pet sitters in this area. It is almost indescribable how much Libby helped us relax and enjoy our vacation. Knowing the dogs were happy and in good hands was a great feeling. She cared for the dogs and we came home to a mess-free house and 3 happy, satisfied dogs. We received regular updates and pictures daily. I will not look anywhere else the next time we go out of town. If you want a true "peace of mind", look no further!

I spent upwards of a year thinking about getting a puppy. My biggest concern was over crating a puppy for long hours while I was away at work. I think I called Maureen several times over the course of the year with questions about her services. Each time she was patient with me and answered all my questions and ended each call with 'good luck'. When I finally decided on a pet from the GCSPCA, there was no question about the service I would use. Maureen and her team are great folks and it's good to know they've got our backs!

We had a great experience. It was very apparent our 6 month-old little beagle did too. He came home so happy. He had learned many things needed to become a good family pet. Now, if we, the humans, can follow our instructions to keep reinforcing the learning. You know, it's hard to teach an old dog (human) new tricks. Heather was great with Shylo and we would recommend her to anyone looking for super dog training.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Bark Avenue and Mike. We received an immediate response when our dog walker cancelled on us at the last minute. Communication throughout the initial process was clear, we received regular updates/pictures/etc. throughout the entire time we were gone, and prices are very competitive for the quality of service being provided. Bark Avenue is the only dog walker we’ll use for our pets moving forward.

What can I say about Andrea the Pet Nanny except that she is amazing! She came to my rescue when I had knee surgery last year. I had no idea of how I would be able to take care of my pooches when I could barely take care of myself. Andrea took all that stress away from me by walking my dogs so I wouldn’t have to. It was so comforting for me to be able to have my dogs at home with me instead of boarding them during my recovery. I have used her services numerous times since then Why should you hire the Pet Nanny? Andrea is dependable, trustworthy, hardworking, kind, compassionate and she takes her responsibilities seriously. She does it all with a very sweet smile and upbeat personality. She loves what she does and it shows! You can reach her by phone at (704) 997-9635 or check out her website http://www.thepetnanny-lkn.com/ or her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thepetnannylkn/.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
