My son has been taking violin lessons for a year and a half and piano lessons for a year now. His progress has been amazing. Mrs. Campbell works with him on his level to expand his talents. She's easy to work with if we need a schedule change. I'm glad that we were able to make a connection through our local newspaper. It's definitely been and continues to be a rewarding experience!

Our daughter has progressed in violin quickly with Maria's patient training. Maria has a wonderful manner with children and encourages them to play for others even outside of recitals, which helps build their self-confidence. We are happy that Maria has been our daughter's violin teacher because she is a great role model for musicianship and service to the community.

About

I am a Durham based cellist and teacher. I earned bachelor's degrees in cello performance and English at the Peabody Institute and Johns Hopkins University, and a master's degree in cello performance and pedagogy, and I have taught students of all ages. I love teaching music, because the skills that the students learn go so far beyond simply playing their instrument and can enhance critical thinking, creativity, discipline and even just general brain development.

About

My private lessons are all about learning at a steady pace, building confidence, and loving music. Whether you or your child wants to learn guitar, piano, or another string instrument, I am the teacher for you! As a college student, I am learning so much about teaching music every day. I want to apply that knowledge through teaching! My experience includes private violin and piano lessons, as well as working in a violin lesson program through my college. My prices are reasonable, and my private lesson atmosphere is happy and motivating!

How hard is it to learn to play the cello?

Taking cello lessons can be a rewarding experience for students young and old. The rich sound of the cello is well-loved in classical music and is found in all genres of contemporary music from modern folk to rock. As with any instrument, how hard it is to learn to play cello depends on the practice and dedication you put into it.
