I hired Tracy Morgan Designs to paint the exterior of our home. Tracy helped me with colors and I couldn't be happier. I love the house. Leo and his team of painters were excellent. Professional service and reasonable price. I've already recommended them to our friends. Thank you for taking good care of our project

I cannot say enough good things about the work Christy at Simply O Interiors did for us. We just moved into a new home. We thought we had all of these great ideas and brought them to our first meeting with her. She listened and gave us her opinions. Come to find out the couch we really wanted would not fit in our family room. Christy was very patient and helped us make decisions we can live with and our home is gorgeous!! Thank you Simply O Interiors for all you did. We have recommended you to all of our friends and family.

Kim was nothing short of an asset to our home renovation projects. She listened to out ideas, gave us an amazing proposal and even helped me through all the changes I eventually made just because I had a hard time making up my mind! Her laid back nature paired with her extensive product and design knowledge made it feel like designing with a really smart friend! We would not have the house we have today with out her and I can't wait to bring her on board to tackle even more projects!

Lena provided amazingly, lush, beautiful flowers-- bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, and accents-- for our wedding at an incredible price point. She worked with our budget to provide more value than any other florist with whom I consulted and was always incredibly responsive to my requests and preferences. When a late-in-the-game quantity snafu (which was completely my own fault) arose, she rolled with the punches and came up with a great solution. Lena has wonderful judgment and a keen eye; everything looked amazing during the reception, and many of our guests complimented us on our floral arrangements. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of floral designer!

Fairburn Thibault Designs was absolutely amazing to work with. They were so attentive to both my needs and, more importantly, my budget. Not only did they provide an excellent design for my living space, they did amazing work for a price that wouldn't break my bank. I would definitely recommend their services and I will be hiring them again for my next project.

I really liked Mike's help and advice in designing a contemporary interior. My relationship was somewhat different than most clients, because I wanted to make all selections of furniture or interior design. Then I would pass possibly several dozen specific choices to Mike for his Yea or Nay. I really liked his willingness to work with me this way. He definitely saved me from spending money on some furniture items which really was not right for the look I was trying to create. And he got me discounts on some items due to his professional qualifications. I am grateful.

Brian started with the concept of a new logo for our company. He did this by looking at our industry as a whole and creating something that says exactly what we do and who we are. From there business cards, cover sheets and lastly a brochure were created. In my opinion they are the most professional we have ever had. Brian accepts the and welcomes the creative input from the client as well. I found Brian very easy to work with and he remained patient with my small and minuscule changes, making sure everything was perfect before going to print. I don't know what the industry standard is these type of services, however I found his prices to be very reasonable especially with the time spent with the creative process and subsequent items. I also found the printing prices to be lower than average, especially with the quality of products we received. You can not only see the difference, but feel the difference as well. I will continue to rave about our "product" and I do make it a point to let people know exactly who created it.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

    • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
    • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
    • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
