    Growing In Music

    (15 reviews)

I am very detailed in my work with students, making sure they understand what they're doing and encouraging them to practice and do good work. What I do helps keep music alive. Not only music, but good music. I try to pass on my love of music to my students.

    Minnix Music

    (8 reviews)

Willy Minnix (a background checked teacher) has been a professional musician and sound engineer for over 20 years. In his career he has had the pleasure of working with top names in the music industry such as Blues Traveler, the Indigo Girls, Keb' Mo, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Little Feat, Old Crow Medicine Show, Yonder Mountain, Government Mule, Los Lonely Boys, Paul Shaffer from the Dave Letterman Show, and many more. He also was able to work with A list actors such as Stanley Tucci and Keanu Reeves, Kevin Bacon and Jill Hennessy. His work has allowed him to work in some of the top music cities in the country, New York, Memphis, Austin, Atlanta, and now he is able to bring his area of expertise to the Piedmont area. When you take lessons from Willy, his goal is to teach you to play quickly and well. Right from the first lesson you will start learning how to play songs and entertain your family and friends. I love working with people and seeing them go from knowing nothing about their instruments, to walking out able to play music! There is no better feeling in the world!

    Piano Lessons

    (6 reviews)

I have a long background in music and art. I've been teaching piano since 2012 and have been playing since 2000, although my first instrument was the clarinet, which I began learning in 1996. During my final two years at Atkinson County High School, I conducted the band at games and assisted the high school director in leading the band class whenever he was absent or otherwise occupied. My first two years of college were concentrated in piano performance, with more courses in music theory, world music, ear training, and music appreciation. In addition to my music background, have one bachelor's degree in philosophy and religious studies, and took my electives in sociology, gaining an award of excellence from the department of sociology, anthropology and criminal justice from Valdosta State. I then went on to Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a degree in Visual Communications, concentration in photography. I'm my own employer, which works out well for my schedule. I've always enjoyed and understood music and music theory, so teaching seems to come naturally. Also, it is rewarding to help and watch someone build a skill I've been practicing for years.

    Hayward Piano Studio

    (5 reviews)

I have been an active music student since the age of 6 and I never want to quit learning about music! I am a currently Doctoral student of Piano Performance at UNCG and I am scheduled to complete my degree in Spring 2017. (I'm just slightly excited about the prospect.) I have been teaching piano for at least 10 years and have had a wide range of students in a wide range of teaching settings from 5 year old beginners to college juniors. I have taught in a classroom setting as well as private lessons. In addition to a doctorate in piano performance I am also working on a Post Masters Certification in Theory Pedagogy. I love working with enthusiastic students who are ready to learn! I have been a student for a long time (and am still a student) so I thoroughly enjoy the process of learning. I believe in a mutual respect between teacher and student.

  • Piano Pete

    (5 reviews)

For the last two decades, I have had the privilege of teaching piano at two of the largest and most successful community music schools in the Southeast: the Columbia Arts Academy, based in Columbia, SC, and the Jan Williams School of Music and Theatre, based in Brentwood, TN, just outside of Nashville. During my years as a piano teacher in community music schools, I have successfully instructed and interacted with a student population representing a vast range of ages, aptitudes, attitudes, races, ethnicities and countries of origin. My retention numbers have been excellent, and I have prepared hundreds of students for recitals. I have taught and performed extensively across the wide spectrum of music, including classical, jazz and popular music, with a particular expertise in jazz, blues and rock music. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

I thrive at creating custom-tailored curriculum designed to meet your individual needs and desires. With a background in classical and folk music, I am able to emphasize technique while also valuing improvisation and enjoyment of music. I am also great at working with children, something I developed through teaching and working as a nanny for over five years. I love helping people understand something that they have always wondered about. It's like finding a missing puzzle piece and having the satisfaction of seeing the picture come together.

  • The Hernandez Conservatory of Music

    (4 reviews)

The Hernandez Conservatory of Music was founded in 2012 in order to provide high-quality musical instruction to students of all ages and backgrounds. One of the main focuses of The Conservatory was to be able to provide this instruction to the community at an affordable rate. We are the only studio that offers payment by lesson, instead of month or semester. Another goal for HCM was to bring instruction to the Hispanic Community. Many of our faculty members are bilingual and speak Spanish. They are able to easily communicate not only with students, but with parents as well. All of our Faculty hold degrees in the instrument that they teach and stay active within the musical community. Our 1,400 square foot office contains six teaching studios, a five foot grand piano, one spinet piano, one digital piano, a drum set, xylophone, concert snare, and two waiting areas. All of our instructors enjoy sharing their knowledge with their students as well as helping them grow musically!

    Cristian J. Albee Music Studio

    (2 reviews)

I had my son taking summer lessons with CJ last year. I was shocked by how much he learned in those short three months. My mother taught piano lessons when I was a kid, and I know that my son learned more in his time with CJ than most kids learn in a year with other teachers. I was very impressed with his professionalism and how organized and on top of everything he was. I don't know many other teachers in the area I would recommend more, especially at the price he offers!
