I had two objectives - to improve my SAT reading score & develop better experience with the essay section.. In just two hours consulting over the phone, Kathy was extremely helpful in achieving both of my goals. She taught me alternative methodical strategies for different types of critical reading passages & questions. She also eliminated my anxiety of getting caught off guard by a strangeEssay prompt by explaining how & why I could prepare my examples ahead of test day, write to the specific structure and still stand out from other good persuasive writers. She even made it fun to recognize the most common grammar mistakes on the test. The resulting positive attitude, clear-mind, and confidence I had on test day definitely improved my score. Thank you Kathy!!

I’ve worked on fiction writing with Jennifer Whitten for many years and with her input have gone from a complete beginner to a published writer. Jennifer’s an intelligent, incredibly creative person with the uncanny ability to home in on the areas of a piece that would benefit from further work, whether the problem is with language, plot structure, character inconsistency, or a theme that can be deepened, and she is able to do so in a manner that’s always encouraging and inspiring. I’ve never left a session with Jennifer without several new insights and ideas, some of which have been dazzling. I highly recommend her. Sincerely, Wayne Bachner

Of the five choices that I had, Susan was such a godsend in my time of need. She helped me iron out my ideas and offered word suggestions that made the story of my life leap out from the page. She refined my thoughts and helped with the technical editing that I struggled with. This essay was one of the most important pieces that I had to write and after hearing Susan’s initial thoughts and ideas, I trusted it into the care of her hands. Susan was also great because she offered different price plans to work within my budget. Finally, she also worked within my tight deadline. But if you give her more time she can help with research and possibly run your work by specific industry professions for feedback. I strongly recommend Susan when you need someone to help bring out the best of you through your writing.

I had the pleasure of working with April on my college essay a few months ago. I submitted my original piece to her and within a day she returned my work with several helpful notes and suggestions. After a few drafts, she helped me piece together a perfect paper that truly expressed all the parts of myself that I had attempted to get across in my original draft. So far, I have been accepted to every college I've applied to. April is so much fun to work with and I am SO thankful that she was available to help me. 5 stars for sure, she knows what she's doing.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

      • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
      • Strong writing skills.
      • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
      • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
      • Expertise in your target area.
      • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

      • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
      • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
