We are VERY happy with the service received from Ramon’ It In!! Without having to do any reminders or checking in, the showed up the day they said and had our entire yard done in 4 hours (which is amazing, given the size). Nick and Heather’s crew have experience in so many things and were even able to help get rid of some accessible tree limbs that were in our way. We have chosen to work with them for our seasonal mowing as well and look forward to having them keeping the place in perfect condition all year!

I hired Terry to grind 6 tree stumps clumped together, he did a great job, but also extended the offer to come back if needed once my landscaper cleared the area. I did have to call him back and he arrived 40 minutes later to grind a few more deep roots with no extra charge. Very pleased with his service!

Judi did a great job pulling out leaves (by hand) at the base of our old barn and trimming back overgrowth from unwanted trees and shrubs in the yard. We hired Judi for a spring cleanup and she definitely gave us a big boost. If you hire Judi, I would recommend being very specific about the job you need done and she will get it done!

On the ball earned this one star rating. They have failed to honor their commitment for the tree service of which they have our deposit from last year. I understand they’ve had business problems And some injury nonetheless they have gone out of their way to not respond to my repeated request for service. I feel it is my responsibility to warn others not to use on the ball for tree service. It is not fair to the hard-working consumer to be deceived by contractors in this way. We are in the process of filing a motion with the Better Business Bureau and small claims to receive our deposit back.

I had a poison sumac tree in my yard. While Mr. Hornstra was here to give me an estimate he cut down that tree. I was so happy to see how it opened that part of my yard. I hired them right on the spot.

I️ cannot say enough about Chris and his work. The tree that was supposed to be removed fell on the street and on my truck during the wind storm . I️ called him to see if he could move us up and he immediately did. He came over and even cut the tree limps on the street. He then came within a couple of days and took down the entire tree. Chris was a life saver. Especially since we had no power. He was very professional, prompt and did a fantastic job. I️ highly recommend him and will use him.

My lawn was a complete mess - looked like a jungle! They worked through humidity and mist to mow, cut down bushes and tree limbs as well as remove leaves that had been there for over a year. The result was awesome. All workers were polite and respectful and the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable.

We own a house in Nashua that we were looking to sell that needed some updating/repair work on. Charles was awesome to work with: he gave honest suggestions on what to do, he had the job quoted and scheduled in just a couple days, had all the work completed in just one day! We had roof work, tree removal, columns replaced, decks repaired and stained, outside trim redone. Efficiency at it's best! I would highly recommend Charles for any work you are looking to have done. We'll definitely call him again for our future needs.

I had 4 Seasons do some tree trimming for me. Mike was very responsive and knowledgeable. Not only did he want to get the job done, he wanted to make sure it was done right. He was honest with us and made sure we wouldn’t be left with another tree trimming job on our hands again next year. He made sure the job wasn’t done until all the trimmings, leaves and saw dust was cleaned up. It was actually cleaner when he left than it was when he first showed up! I would definitely recommend 4 Seasons for you property maintenance needs!

About

I am an arborist with fifteen years of experience serving residential and commercial customers on the North Shore and Merrimac Valley. I specialize in pruning, difficult removals, cabling (secondary supports), hedges, and plantings. I work with the customer to find the best solution, both price and impact wise, to meet their goals. I take pride in being willing to tell a customer that they may be better off hiring or at least getting a quote from someone who may be better equipped to handle a job. Ropes, saddles, dump truck, and chipper are all the tools I need to get the job done.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
