Mr.Lawrence was the gentalman for the job. He was above and beyond my expectations of making my surprise wedding aniverserery dinner for my wife. The wine pairing was something I was unfamiliar with. So Mr. Lawrence was very patient and explanatory on a whole new experience that open a door for new possibilities for me and my wife. As for the food. Definitely five star, plenty to eat, and there was plenty of extras to take home to my boys so they can experience a part of our night. To finish off the review I got to say I was not exspecting the relationship I have established with Mr. Lawrence. The conversation was worth it in its self and can't wait to continue the relationship in the future. P.s I'm dying to try his crab cakes.

I honestly wish that we could give them 10 starts. From the START Shannon and her team were nothing but amazing. They were friendly, professional, and their food was incredible! During our wedding planning experience, Shannon not only acted as a our caterer, but she acted as a member of our family. She was always present to talk to, she was encouraging, she was kind, she was excited for us to get married and she made sure that we did not have to worry about A THING! She made sure that every little detail was done, and that if we had any questions, we could ask her ( even if it was not catering related). Shannon made sure that every bit of food was something that my wife and I would love, and she even remembered every little detail of my wife's picky eating! On the day of our wedding we did not have to worry about A THING! Why? Because Shannon and her team handled it. They made sure that our bridal party had snacks and things to munch on ( and drink) while guests were arriving and she made sure to serve my wife and I during the reception. Shannon and her team have become great friends of ours through this experience and weeks later she even ended up catering my sister in laws wedding because our family loved her food so much! THEY WILL NOT UPSET! HIRE THEM and you will be SO GLAD you did!

I have a lot to say about Chef Anton (Feast catering), in hopes of conveying my appreciation for all the work he and his team did and also to encourage you to hire him NOW! I reached out on Thumbtack in search of a wedding caterer. Chef Anton got back to me right away. He said he could honor our budget and he took the time to tell me about all the food he offers. Then Chef Anton invited us over for a tasting. He were sold right away. His professionalism, service, and of course the quality of the food blew us away. Next, Chef Anton agreed to come to our venue upon the event coordinator's request....didn't complain, didn't charge us for his time, just showed up ready to work. He toured the venue and had amazing ideas regarding where to set up, serve, etc. Then came the big day. Chef Anton was punctual as always and got right to work. The food was awesome as was the service. Chef Anton and his team did all the setting up, serving, and clean up. He had special plates for my wife and I so we didn't have to get up and serve ourselves! An important side note: my father in law made our cake, and Chef Anton ran back to his car to grab a knife so we could get it, then he went out of his way to serve cake to our guests. True professional. At the end of the experience, and in writing this review, I feel very emotional because Anton treated us like family throughout this process. Great food and great guy. Meet him in persona and listen to what he had to offer and he will take care of your event! He was the MVP of our wedding day. Chef Anton, thank you truly and please keep in touch.

1. Even though the wedding was short notice, chef Kim took the job on and immediately got started, putting me at ease. 2. She was always available and would respond quickly whenever I would call, email, or text. 3. We were very pleased with the food, and the service. All of the guests had a favorite part of the meal, whether it was an hors d'oeuvre or main dish. I would certainly recommend chef Kim, and look forward to using her services again.

A Taste of Paradise catered my daughters wedding. I have never had better food at a wedding. Everyone enjoyed the food so much they all went back for more. The variety was wonderful, there were several vegetarians who were very excited. Thank you so very much A taste of Paradise for such a fantastic meal. A server was also supplied who could not have a more wonderful person. I cannot say enough how special this made my daughters wedding. Thank you again. Maryann

We used Allison last year for our wedding anniversary dinner and she made crab imperial for us. One of the best I've ever had. We are about to celebrate another anniversary and we will be definitely calling on her again. Very personable and she takes pride in her cooking.

My husband and I rented a taco truck through Jerry's Kitchen for our engagement party turned surprise wedding and we were nothing short of amazed! We loved that Jerry's Kitchen uses texting for booking and venmo for payments, this really made booking smooth and convenient. Scott was so easy to work with and helpful with finding which truck suited our needs and budget. 5 out of 5 starts for sure! We will definitely be using Jerry's Kitchen for future party needs!

I hired Tina for my best friend's wedding shower and the experience was outstanding. The time and detail she took to design the table made her bites look as amazing as they tasted! All of my guests raved about the food, it's presentation and how sweet Tina was to speak with. Thank you for an amazing event!! Tina will be my first call for our next big party for sure. We hired beeandjay’s catering for our wedding and I must say we were very pleased with how professional they were. We were also very grateful that they allowed us to have a hand in our menu choice. All the other catering companies we called had menu choices for us to pick from and it was things I nor my husband ate. Beeandjay’s catering was understanding of any changes that we made. The day of the wedding they arrived early to make sure everything was running smoothly. I highly recommend beeandjay’s catering for your next event.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I loved that Ronda got back to me right away, was able to adjust the menu to our liking and accommodate a fairly short turn around. She and Maurice were right on time, the meal was delicious and served with a wonderful attitude. All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased.

Yoon and Letscultivatefood is fantastic in that the dishes were creative and w fresh ideas for our party. Pricing was surprisingly reasonable. We requested flavored waters and teas which were in glass containers on wood/tree blocks. Everything was labeled w a fun presence. My wife must have said a million times "everything is so pretty and colorful". All I can say is I ate and drank A LOT and still had food left over. Someone I know recommended letscultivatefood who used them for a Superbowl party (I think they did a variety of handmade sports related finger foods).. Yoon, can you please tell me how you made those drinks?? A+ - recommend for your next wedding, birthday, or holiday party..

The whole experience was great. Latonya worked around my schedule and was answering my emails even at 11pm at night. I think the food presentation was outstanding and everything came out great and tasty! The guests were satisfied and I was as well. Only thing I can say was that the chicken tenders were a little dry but that's due to transferring and holding. Other then that, I will be very glad to have her cater my events again. :)

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

Do you tip a wedding caterer?

Tipping 15 percent to 20 percent on a $3,000 catering bill can feel daunting — especially in light of all the other costs of throwing a wedding — but tipping your wedding caterer is standard practice. Be sure to ask your caterer about their specific policies. Many catering companies include gratuity as a line item on their bill. If tipping is not automatically included in your total, a good approach is to tip all the people involved the day of the event rather than paying one lump sum to the catering company. For each server and bartender, you can tip $20-$50, depending on how long they were onsite and whether they did exceptional work. You can also tip the chef; experts suggest $50. It’s also a good idea to tip the catering manager, the point-of-contact person who keeps the catering service running smoothly the day of your wedding, ensures all the food looks beautiful and is plentiful, and resolves any mishaps. Industry pros recommend tipping the catering manager $100-$200. If gratuity is not included and you’re tipping individuals, set aside $200-$500 in cash to be safe.

How much does wedding catering cost per person?

Wedding catering costs will always vary based on the number of guests you’re inviting, the menu you want to serve, and the way the food will be served to your guests. As you interview wedding catering companies, you’ll be presented with a cost per person for various menus. On the low end, wedding catering may cost approximately $15-$18 per person. This would include prepared food only, with no setup or service of any kind. The starting price for a simple buffet meal with minimal service typically averages $22 per person. Opting for the same menu with all organic ingredients could raise your costs to about $33 per person. A moderately upscale menu (finer ingredients, more elaborate presentation) could range from $24 to $34 per person. High-end wedding catering cost truly has no limit. Lobster, filet mignon, specialty seafood, organic ingredients — menu choices like these can boost your cost per person up to $150 and more.

What should you look for in a caterer?

A delicious meal is a critical element of a successful wedding, with happy guests fondly remembering your fabulous wedding food. The right caterer for you will be:

      • Available: Even the best caterer is no good if they aren’t available on your wedding date. Ask early before you get your heart set on someone.
      • Affordable for you: Find a caterer that you can afford. Having a spending plan ahead of time will mean you won’t overspend on food.
      • A good personality fit: Wedding planning is stressful, so work with someone that you can get along with and communicate with easily.
      • Experienced and recommended: Ensure the company has a proven track record with events of your size and the references to back it up.
      • Transparent about money: Steer clear of shady pricing. Find a caterer who is very clear about costs and is happy to talk you through budgets and pricing options.
      • Transparent about food: Find someone who is clear about where they source their food from and where it is prepared.

How do you serve food at a wedding?

Food service at your wedding will affect your catering costs and influence the atmosphere of the reception. Buffet style is more informal; plated meals are a bit fancier; family style encourages sharing. Read about the different food service styles to select your preferred wedding catering choice.

      • Buffet: Caterers can drop off prepared foods for a DIY and budget-friendly buffet option where you set everything up and food is entirely self-service. For a fuller-service buffet, the caterers set up food, oversee the buffet throughout the event, and clean up afterwards. For food only, prices per person might average $16-$18, while a service buffet may start around $20-$22 per person. Adding food stations can increase per-person costs by at least $3-$5.
      • Family style: Servers bring large platters of food to guest tables in courses. It’s less formal (and less expensive) than a plated meal, but more formal and higher-cost than a buffet. You’ll need large tables to accommodate the platters, so plan accordingly when renting furniture for the event.
      • Plated: A plated event is a formal dining experience; waitstaff serve your seated guests for each course, fill their drinks, and attend to them throughout the dinner. A plated dinner is typically the most expensive option for both food and service.
      • Food trucks: Similar to buffets, with food trucks your guests get their own food and bring it to their table. A food truck gives a relaxed and playful vibe to your reception.
      • Cocktail reception: If you don’t want a formal seated dinner, you can opt for a wide assortment of passed appetizers at an extended cocktail hour reception.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
