We hired Nick to DJ an event we had in New Haven, CT and he was great! He arrived early and was completely set up at least 30 minutes before the event started - which was greatly appreciated! He even brought his own DJ booth and lights. I should have given him more of a heads up on the type of music we wanted, but once I gave him a few examples of some bands to play he did a great job keeping it up. He also did a wonderful job making announcements throughout the event to keep the attendees in the loop. In our original agreement Nick said he would bring a photographer and would leave us with a thumb drive of all the pictures. We thought this offer was ABOVE and BEYOND so knew he would be great to work with. Unfortunately the photographer wasn't at the event, but Nick did have a nice camera that we were able to take photos with. I'm waiting for Nick to mail me those photos on a thumb drive and as long as I get those soon I am comfortable leaving a 5 star review! Nick was a great guy so I know they will be in the mail any day now. And as an added bonus: he sings! If you're event go-ers are into Frank Sinatra, make sure to let Nick know and he'll put on a show. ;-)
Working with Sweet Harmony was fantastic, every step of the way. I worked with Tara, the owner as well as one of the musicians on the day. We had a keyboardist and violinist for the ceremony and a keyboardist and saxophone player for the cocktail hour. We were able to choose all of the songs we wanted for the ceremony, including a special request to play during a break. Tara helped me select pieces that would work well together while making sure to find the perfect place for the wide range of songs we wanted included. (Fields of Gold - check, Ave Maria - check!) It really elevated the ceremony and we're so lucky to have had them! Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear the sax & keyboard during cocktail hour, and from what I heard, I missed quite a performance! Friends could not stop talking about it, and even mentioned that they stayed close to the music so that they wouldn't miss any songs! I can't recommend Sweet Harmony highly enough! Even if you are not sure if you "need" live music, I'd suggest that you look into them. Tara is happy to work with you on your needs and I think you'll be convinced it's worth it!
Ivan was fantastic. Responsive, professional, and amazing talent to perform the songs you want. He even let us borrow a mic for the ceremony!
The Al Louis Band with Al Louis Entertainment did a fantastic job at our wedding. We added the DJ package to the live band and it was truly a seamless night of great music! A++++! Thank you Al for making it a night to remember! Drew and Kris
Sean and his band provided ideal lively jazz music at a local event. They were super easy to communicate with beforehand, and they played beautifully to a large very appreciative crowd. I strongly recommend them.
Taking lessons with Jonathan has been a blast. While I'm not a "new" person I'm a pretty new player and the variety of music I've learned has kept it interesting and challenging. We've worked on classical pieces, Beatles, bluegrass and jazz and blues. He's taught me a lot of theory as well as practical technique. And how to practice. The past few years have changed the way I listen to music.
Soulful Sounds were the perfect choice for our son's graduation party! It was an amazing night with thunderstorms, rainbow & music ! They played to a large gathering of over a 100 people. A very professional band who adjusted to the situation and played remarkably. Highly recommend!
The Wayne Batchelor jazz trio was the perfect band for our gala. Each member was super talented and professional - they worked so well together and were very friendly and personable with staff and attendees at the gala. One thing specifically noted - that I think is very important - they were great at reading the audience, and providing just what was needed for the event. They were not so loud that they drowned out conversation, but provided beautiful background music. We received so many comments on how great they were. They were definitely a class act. Our gala theme was the Red Tie Gala - each band member wore a red bow tie. No one asked them to - just a small example of their attention to detail and their desire to provide the best experience possible. They will definitely be our "go to" band for events!
Love U Music School! Adult Band Workshop was a great experience. Lou Ubriaco taught me how to work together with other musicians and perform in a Band while understanding the music theory behind it. Lou is a perfectionist who will not stop working with you until you get it right so get ready to work hard and get results!
Joyce has been teaching my son trumpet for 3 years. How do I appreciate her? Let me count the ways! - Son played trumpet in school band throughout middle school before starting lessons with Joyce. He strongly resisted learning to sight read all those years. Joyce had him (happily!) sight reading within the first few months. - Joyce helped my son correct some technique problems which were frustrating him. His progress was impressive, and he won a coveted spot in the area all-state band. - Joyce is open to working with music that her students enjoy. Jazz improvisation has become a staple of lessons that my son looks forward to, and solos in his school jazz band have flowed from this. - Whenever I listen in on lessons I always hear laughter. Even when my son is tired and grumpy before a lesson, he comes out of the lesson feeling great. -Joyce loves cats! Your cat will be treated like royalty whenever Joyce is around.
Mark Weisman has been my son's piano teacher since he was 11 years old. Alex is now a proficient pianist at age 21. Under the tutelage of Mark, my son advanced from a music student to a true musician. Mark is an engaging teacher who introduces his students to a variety of music genres, keeping classical, standards and popular music all part of the student's repertoire. My son Alex's interest in music was spurred on by Mark's enthusiasm and style of teaching. The Music Workshop conducts annual performances for parents and friends so we can see the progress our children have made. My son is now in college and still studies with Mark on breaks and in the summer. Alex belongs to The Jazz Band at Loyola University as well as his own band. He has played professionally for cocktail hours and theater productions. Mark has inspired Alex to continue his music into his adulthood. Mark Weisman is an exemplary teacher and person.
Working with Jacob was better than I could've ever expected. He was super supportive and responsive. We hit the ground running with songs I had only dreamed of being able to play. On top of that, he gave me the confidence to perform for friends, family, and a few real live gigs. I would 100% recommend him as a teacher, but do it before he gets booked up.
I Love working with Jeff and all of his bands and bandmates! He's very easy to work with, very fair and reasonable. He and all of his bands play great and give it their all every time they play!
Chanan was a joy to work with! Knowledgeable and skilled and very creative. He helped produce a record of sacred music for me and also provided back up guitar for my band when needed a few times in Dallas. He is an exceptional engineer and guitar player with a fine ear for detail.
I was looking for a pianist on Thumbtack for an event and was so lucky to find Adam. It was such a pleasure working with him; he made time to speak with me to discuss the programs and details of the event. We talked about song selections and he knew exactly what I was looking for, which honestly was very helpful. The night of the event, Adam entertained our guests with soft rhythms and beautiful melodies. Each song was played to perfection, welcoming our guests into an elegant atmosphere. His live performance was certainly the highlight of the evening. We received many compliments throughout the night about Adams breathtaking performance. Adam, my family and I want to thank you for making the event so memorable; we are truly honored and grateful for your time, dedication and efforts preparing for this special day. You definitely surpassed all our expectations! We also appreciate your flexibility and patience with our family throughout the event. You have an amazing talent and we are so glad you were able to be a part of this special occasion. We highly recommend your services to anyone who is looking for a caring, professional and talented pianist to perform at their event. Your price was extremely reasonable especially for the phenomenal performance we got in return, we couldn't have asked for more! Again, thank you!
I came to Sarah with a goal of wanting to accompany myself as a singer, instead of having to rely on a guitarist or a band. In less than a year I played my first solo show. Sarah has prepared me to play solo, with a band, how to rearrange songs, how to read sheet music and so much more. Every lesson I learn something different. She’s made learning piano fun and interesting. Sarah is very patient, kind and extremely talented. I’d never go anywhere else!
Michele is a wonderful teacher! She has many unique and helpful exercises up her sleeve to help you improve your technique, and she is always very well-prepared for lessons -- she'll not only provide music for you to play, but additional articles to help you understand the style that you should be playing in. To top it all off, she's just a nice person. N.B. Her practice space near Herald Square is super convenient for anyone who lives/works in Manhattan!
I've been at several events where Carol and her band have performed. Each time, she sang a mix of jazz and blues, and she and the band sounded and looked great! The musicians who play with her are really professional. I also noticed Carol is very organized and she kept the evening moving and the crowd was happy. I'd highly recommend hiring her and the band for any event where you want your guests to have a terrific time!
A true professional!!!! I am an event planner and about 5 months ago I found myself in a difficult position with a last minute cancellation by a scheduled entertainer for a wedding. That exact day the piano teacher came by to give piano lessons to our boys. While Hank was giving me feed back on the kids' progress, he sensed that I was stressed. As I explained my plight, this guy rose to the occasion. immediately! Two weddings and one 50th wedding anniversary later, Hank Machuga remains on my list of service providers. Great to work with, flexible, an all-around good person and someone who knows his craft. Thank you!!!!!! Joseph Coston Weddings & Events
Hired Anthem for a birthday party and it went great. They sound exactly like the bands they cover and put on a great show. They're pro, no goofy embarrassing talk between songs and the price was right. The sound was great and they DJ'd during the breaks. Would definitely rehire. Thanks guys!
Revolving door band is an absolute pleasure to work with. Extremely talented professional musicians covering an extremely wide range of music. From rock to grunge to 90’s to funk and beyond they covered it all. Especially enjoyed their multi song medleys to keep the energy of the party up all night. Very much look Forward to future work with this band. If you are looking for an extremely versatile band for your event, look no further.
