I needed some help with algebra in 8th grade. My parents had heard of Jeremy from a friend, so we got in touch and he started tutoring me. Jeremy is an excellent tutor. He helped me with my Algebra and all of my other subjects. He has a vast array of knowledge in all subjects ranging from Algebra to History. On top of that, Jeremy taught me what was important to focus on. He helped me prepare for the SAT and showed me how important it was. I went on to do excellent on it. This is what separates him from other tutors. He informs you of things that will be important in the future even when it has nothing to do with what you are learning in class. All the while, Jeremy is friendly and down to earth. It felt like a friend or family member was tutoring me. I truly couldn't give him high enough praise.
He is very kind and supportive and knows how to navigate his way through SAT prep work very well

We only had one lesson but so far Brendan seems like he's really going to help my niece excel on her SAT in May. He has taught her one great technique so far and she is excited about it. He recommended two SAT Prep books that we are going to order so that she can work on lessons at home in between the times that she meets with him. We are looking forward to the next meeting and working with him!

I am available weekday evenings and most weekends. I have years of experience working with students as a private tutor for organic and general chemistry. I specialize in all fields of chemistry, from high school to college level courses, including AP prep, Regents, and SAT chemistry. I spent some years teaching undergraduates at Columbia, where I earned my PhD in organic chemistry. Now, I teach at a lower Manhattan gifted high school. I live in Manhattan but can easily commute to other parts of the city. My rates and appointment times are flexible. Please contact me if youd like to discuss setting up an appointment. Chemistry can be challenging. Clarifying concepts and working on problems with someone who caters to individual needs creates a difference. Ive worked with various students. I began tutoring over 20 years ago as a way of sharing my abilities to perform well on standardized tests and general academic work on a one-to-one basis without the constraints of a classroom setting. Over the years, I have countless success stories, and best of all, I come to you! I look at each situation as unique and each student individually. As such, I do not take a cookie-cutter approach to tutoring. I provide personal attention and guidance to each student, instilling confidence, skills and strategies to enable each student to reach his or her highest testing potential. I strive to motivate my students and get through to them where others have not. Two words frequently used to describe me are honest and caring. My typical students fall into several categories. These are the following: * The student with unmet potential: I frequently am asked to help a student who is not reaching his or her potential. There can be many reasons for this. In many cases, the student has grades or scores slightly above average but not exceptional. With motivation and hard work, I can frequently raise not only the standardized test scores, but as a bonus, the school grades also increase. Suddenly, there is greater confidence, and anxiety is lessened for everyone. * The learning-disabled student: A student with a learning disability frequently presents a challenge. However, with my endless patience and the willingness of the student and parents to put in the time and effort necessary to achieve results, the results can be dramatic. * The exceptional student: Finally, when working with exceptional students, I frequently encourage students and parents to put less time into preparation for standardized tests and to put that time into developing a stronger college application with more emphasis on extracurricular and community service activities. I work with most standardized tests including SAT I, ACT, PSAT, ISEE(ERBs), SHSAT and Regents. I also tutor the following subjects: * Math: Arithmetic, Math A, Math B, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus * Science: Basic Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science (at times) * English: Writing and Reading Skills (especially as they pertain to standardized tests) * College Applications: Application Review and Essay Editing * Others: Learning Disabilities, Organization Skills, Learning Skills and Elementary School
Greetings! I am a certified and practicing teacher. I teach all subjects; yes, my days are very busy. My certification covers grades K-12 and children with special needs. I have been teaching for 10 years and have developed quite the "bag of tricks!" I am a pro with "strategies" and tricks for children of all ages and abilities. I tutor in all subjects including the Regents, RCTs, English exams, SSAT, and ISEE. Contact me today for rates, hours and availability. I also offer free evaluation and consultation.
I tutor in the following topics: * Math: Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, and Trigonometry * English: grammar, reading, SAT reading, SAT writing, vocabulary * Test Preparation: SAT reading and writing * Computer: Microsoft Word * History: social studies * Elementary Education: elementary (k-6th), grammar, reading, study skills, and vocabulary * Business: Microsoft Word * Corporate Training: grammar, Microsoft Word * Home school: Algebra 1, elementary (k-6th), Pre-Algebra, reading, SAT reading, and study skills Most parents do their best tutoring for their children after school, but there seems to be no positive result. This is because parents naturally provide basic needs for their children and should leave their academics to professionals who will meet specific needs of the child at a different level. "70% of academic excellence is outside the classroom," and that is why I am here to make the impossible a possibility through friendship.
