Cynthia's teaching style is clever and different from how I learned Spanish years ago. I asked for conversational Spanish lessons and before I knew it she was teaching me how to say phrases that were relevant to MY life (my line of work, my hobbies, my animals etc.) it wasn't just basic regurgitation of standard phrases, it was a personal one-on-one lesson that would eventually allow me to talk about myself and my situations as opposed to the generic sayings I learned in high school (such as "I like ice cream" and "where is the library"). I'm thrilled with her approach and her knowledge of linguistics, she's very knowledgeable and personable! Incredibly happy with my sessions so far!
It is my great pleasure to personally recommend Sharon Lopatin for a teaching or tutoring position.. Sharon was vital in helping me understand and complete assignments in English, reading, writing, social studies and biology. She was also able to help me learn many new things, even when I didn’t understand it the first time. I can assure you that Sharon Lopatin is an outstanding teacher who will quickly become an integral member of your school’s community. Since our first meeting Sharon has been a great teacher because she is able to work patiently with me as I was learning a new language and could explain ideas in different ways. This level of attention and care make Sharon a wonderful teacher and educator for any student or classroom.
Madame is lovely to work with. She is patient and kind with our 5 year old daughter and really works to connect with Zoë on her level. I would recommend Madame to anyone who is interested in furthering their French language skills.
Amanda is an excellent teacher always well-organised and prepared. Her lessons are dynamic, interesting and always enjoyed by students. She is good at teaching all levels and age groups from teenagers to adults, from general English to business conversation. As a former colleague I appreciated her attention to detail and drive for excellence.
Learning English from Fran is a great experience. Fran is a patient and attentive teacher constantly adapting individual language learning programs to student's needs. Being an immigrant I was able to improve my vocabluary and become confident in my English very fast. I highly recommend Fran as an English teacher.
Adriana Culasso is an outstanding teacher of the Spanish language, culture and literature. She is very knowledgeable and more importantly has the correct mind-set to help her students benefit from her expertise. She believes her students can learn from her teaching strategies. She has high expectations; and is willing to go the extra mile to make learning of Spanish language, culture and literature in a culturally relevant manner by making her teaching interesting, and comprehensible with the use of diverse instructional tools and strategies. Would love to be her student again.
Growing up in a Latino household in North Philadelphia should have provided me with an uncanny grasp of the Spanish language. However, like many other Latinos growing up in many American cities, I have only walked away from my childhood with a very general sense of understanding the language without being able to speak it at all. In my adulthood I have taken Spanish courses in college, but to no avail. I have also sought out the aid of a few Spanish tutors. What I came to find out after many attempts to really learn Spanish is that no matter how well my previous teachers understood the language nor how fluent they were in speaking it, I didn't feel like they were particularly skilled at teaching a language (at least in the way I needed them to). I would later find out that this conclusion of mine was absolutely accurate when I began Spanish classes with Laura Schofield. Not only does this amazingly friendly young lady have an incredible accent and a full grasp on the Spanish language (as well as English), she is also very skilled as a teacher. I feel like she targets very specific trouble areas that have hindered my acquisition of the language, and she has a very lucid method for explaining the learning process. I am grateful to have found such an amazing teacher with a unique style and an obvious passion for both language acquisition and for teaching people. I would happily recommend this teacher to anyone looking to learn Spanish, from the beginner level to the advanced. She has a high standard for what she does, and seems to be a master of her craft. I happier than ever with the progress I have made and I look forward to continuing classes with her!
Ana's knowledge of language is very extensive, and her conversational skills are very helpful for those trying to navigate through a new language. She is always excited to help and enjoys being an educator.
I have met Jed several times for refresher French lessons, and have found him to be very, very helpful. He recommended reference materials, and has provided excellent suggestions for homework assignments.
Jackie is a an adaptable and understanding teacher. I needed to learn Spanish for my job, so I took lessons with her for several years. She tailored the conversational practice and the instruction to my needs and interests. I felt motivated and I enjoyed every class.
My first session with Ms. Jazmin was very informative and I feel confident she will be able to tailor the lessons to fit my learning goals.
I have been taking language classes from various venues for more than a decade. About a year ago, a friend recommended the Institute for Foreign Languages. I have been studying both Italian (advanced/immersion) and German (intermediate) at the IFL. I am extremely satisfied with the instructors, content and learning experience offered with the courses I took and am taking. For both the Italian and German and I assume the other languages, the instructors are native language speakers. They employ very effective and creative instruction methods. We read interesting literature, current event stories and cultural articles. We have good conversation in the foreign language and plenty of practice speaking and writing. The costs of the courses are very reasonable and compare favorably with competitors. All in all, I recommend the IFL as a very effective and enjoyable school for learning foreign languages.
Rania is an excellent teacher for any student, beginning, intermediate or advanced! She made sure to explain the concept of Arabic and relating it to real world situation examples. She is on time always, friendly and accommodating. I would recommend Rania to anyone who is interested to learn the Arabic language.
I was born and raised in Mexico. I can teach you real Spanish in an easy way, and you will end up speaking with no accent at all.
I inject a sense of humor into my work. I try to spice things up and not make it so monotonous. It should be fun learning new material; not a drag.

Hi, there! My name is Kevin, and I would be happy to help you (or your student) further develop your written and spoken English skills. I've got a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Binghamton University, as well as a Master of Divinity degree from Clarks Summit University. My academic background along with a very friendly, patient, and thorough teaching style have allowed me the opportunity to work with both young children and adults. I offer: Beginning reading and writing skills for young learners. I would be happy to discuss, and work with your goals for your student's advancement. Essay/paper review and help on revision to improve writing. This includes help on grammar and argument formation (logical flow). For speakers of other languages, I provide written and spoken English help. This includes grammar, vocabulary, correct word usage and pronunciation. My students have enjoyed my flexibility in both creating exercises to direct lessons while also being willing to "go with the flow" when the student wants to take the lessons in another direction. In other words, my end goal is your improvement. So, where do you want to go from here?
