I have been attending Jasmine's classes for almost a year now and she is one of the best yoga teachers I have ever had the pleasure of being a student of. Her classes are challenging but not to the point where they break you. Jasmine is attentive, and since I take her classes pretty often, I also appreciate that she changes up the class routine to keep you on your feet. She usually ends the class with a bit of aromatherapy- what I have now dubbed the Jasmine touch. It is this type of detail and care for her students that makes Jasmine stand out. I always look forward to attending Jasmine's classes and am lucky to go to a studio where she teaches every week.

As a yoga beginner, I was intimidated by the idea of learning in a group setting. I wanted something tailored to my individual needs. Lucas definitely fit the bill. From our very first private session, he was extremely patient with my lack of knowledge and even more so with my lack of flexibility! Fast forward a year and I'm doing things now I didn't think possible then. Highly recommended.

I am a yoga teacher working in New York City, but when I take class with Liz I feel like a student again. The teacher part of me wants to rush off in the middle and write down her sequences in my notebook, but I would never disrupt the beautiful flow that she creates. Every class I've taken from Liz seems so meticulously woven together, yet her voice is calm and easy--helpful without being overpowering. She also has the gift of touch--some people just have it! Her hands-on corrections are light but you can feel the thought and love behind them. She takes her work seriously. Each pose is there for a reason, and you'll be glad that it is. And ask her questions after! She really thinks about the answers she gives, because she really cares about her students.

About

Kundalini Yoga - "The Yoga of Awareness" Kundalini Yoga is the most powerful and the original of the twenty-two schools of yoga, all of which are beneficial. The Yoga sutras (writings) say that what you can achieve in 12 years of Hatha Yoga, plus 3 years of Mantra Yoga, plus 6 years of Raj Yoga, plus 1 year of Laya Yoga, can be achieved in single year of perfectly practiced Kundalini Yoga. Kundalini Yoga is designed for the active person with responsibilities in school, business, work, family and the world. It was maintained as a secret oral tradition for thousands of years which protected the techniques from abuse, but also created an unnecessary image of mystery. Kundalini Yoga can be practiced by any person if it's done gradually and according to the instructions. Any person of any age, size and on any level of mental, emotional or physical abilities can be benefited from this ancient practice. As our society becomes increasingly technological, our world becomes more intimately connected and influenced by its numerous cultures. The pace of change is on the rise and the stress on our body's nervous system is increasing. The science of Kundalini Yoga allows us to tap into a technology that helps us cope with this escalating change. The inner science of the mind is the means that will enable us to cope with the pressure of these changes. It is the mind that interprets our outer and inner worlds and it is the mind that we must train to guide us through the flow of change.

About

I am one of the several friendly and committed teachers at Yoganesh, a low-key, welcoming studio that attracts people of all ages and stages. I encourage you to check out this little local studio where there is an ongoing $30 for 30 days special for new students and where packages grant you classes from as little as $12.50 (or less if you go every hour of every day). Yoganesh is located at 232 7th Ave. at 23rd St. That being said, I am also open to offering private classes at your location, gym or office. I'm a certified vinyasa yoga teacher with a particular interest in yoga for runners, cyclists, and desk jockeys (that's the rest of us!). I rode a bicycle for a living for almost a decade. My class is active and aimed at beginner to intermediate levels, focusing less on Cirque du Soleil/pretzel moves and more stretching, twisting, and breathing -- actions that will serve us well as we age. To that end, I set up a volunteer program teaching seniors at the Hudson Guild and volunteer taught beginners at Chelsea Recreation Center. You can read more about me at my website and read my posts on the website where I contribute to social media and the blog.

About

No matter where you are in your practice (just beginning or an advanced yogi), private instruction helps you tap into a deeper awareness of your body and advance your practice quickly. We will work with what you want to work on: shoulders, hips, hamstrings and/or on the postures you want to advance. It's your time and you get to decide. Don't forget to bring a notebook and a camera! We believe in the philosophy which says that the body, as a mirror of the mind, gives us a unique portal into understanding how the mind and body interact. To see how the mind is directly expressed in the body and to look at the mind itself, we utilize the tools of yoga asana, meditation and breathing (pranayama). We will flow through a sequence of asanas or poses while exploring our breath and mind through the lens of our movement. We will sweat, release and have fun.
