They did a great job with interior painting. Had to call them back for unfinished work and because the exterior painting was done without properly prepping the surface. However Will was professional about it and sent his guys out at the earliest. Would definitely hire again.

Can only say great things about Mark. We had new trim installed and needed everything caulked.I was a little nervous at first since he exclusively a painter. However just like all the other reviews and jobs he's done, he was perfect. Every joint/line was razor sharp. He's also a good guy which always makes the job easier and more relaxing. Without question I recommend for any job you have.

Tom did a fantastic job with my kitchen cabinets and painting. I called him to quote me for refacing my kitchen cabinets, but later added more work to paint several rooms and remove textured ceiling. Overall, he was very helpful and completed work neatly. He was patient in answering all my questions and I gained good knowledge about different aspects of house from him. He is very organized and starts early. I will definitely recommend him for any carpentry work or paint job.

Paul went over and above and did even better than I had hoped. For example, when I asked him to paint my kitchen, I had no idea that he was going to paint the walls inside the back of the cabinets. Wow, looked brand new. He even took down ceiling lights when painting the ceiling. As for other repairs around the house, he did everything 200%. He worked on my home as it was his. If you need a handyman, hire him. You will have no regrets

Kevin did an excellent job! He painted my cabinets and replaced all the yucky brass hardware with nickel. They look gorgeous! He noticed the cabinet floor under the sink was falling and asked if he could fix it. That floor is so sturdy now it won't be moving for another 100 years. He also installed a threshold between my dining room and kitchen. The tile floor in the kitchen was higher than the hard woods. My company won't trip anymore. I'm so excited. Hire Kevin! He's honest and fair. We have other jobs lines up when the weather breaks ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

While cleaning my kitchen cabinets, I pulled off the entire heavy panel of 30 year old doors. It was a mess and I was planning a party the next night. I discovered Thumbtack online and found Joe. I sent him pictures, he saw my dilemma, and agreed to arrive at 7 AM the next morning! He arrived on time and he and a helper had it fixed in no time, better and stronger than new.I never expected such a quick resolution, and was thrilled, and now plan on having Joe do some long overdue painting on my funky old house. Iโ€™m now a Thumbtack, and Joe convert! Highly recommended.

i needed a painter to come in over the weekend while my husband was out of town. Painting the house was to be a surprise Father's Day gift. The crew showed up at 9 am on Saturday and stayed till 6 pm. They came back Sunday morning and finished the project by 3:30pm. Their work was impeccable and i could not be more pleased! I should mention the owner of the company was in the hospital recovering from a full knee replacement and ran the job from his hospital bed. I highly recommend STP and will be using them again! Artech was a wonderful company and I'm glad we picked them. Alex was very responsive on Thumbtack and was able to come out and give a quote within a couple days. The estimate was lower than a couple of other companies. They did a wonderful job! There was one area that wasn't perfect and without complaining, they came out and re-painted the entire wall over again the next day. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. We are so thankful for their work and would recommend them to anyone who needs painting or other restoration services! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

Christian is a very trustworthy and professional painter. He takes much pride in his work and happens to be a jack of all trades. His cleanliness is a great asset considering painting can become very messy. He moved my furniture and just showed the upmost respect for my home and property. His painting was very beautiful upon completion and my family has already scheduled more jobs for him to complete in the near future!

I'm very picky when I have a passion for something like changing the colors in my house which I been wanting to do for some time now. I contacted Wilson's Pro Elite Painting service. We set up an appointment and I was surprised to see how professional they was. We came to an agreement on the price and set a starting date. They was very punctual, fast and clean. The work was fabulous and I was pleased.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
