Just for background information, I took lessons with Christine for about 4 years throughout high school with a focus in classical voice. I currently still study voice in college and I can honestly say I have the most helpful foundation I could have ever asked for for that. Christine instills a very strong vocal foundation both artistically and technically. She doesn't dumb anything down, but is absolutely understandable even for beginners. She is also incredibly knowledgeable as a musician, which is enormously helpful because with each new piece she adds to your repertoire, she also builds theoretical and artistic knowledge which helps you be able to perform other pieces later on. So I went into a lot of later repertoire having a solid understanding of the purpose and context of the music I was singing. Also, she never loses sight of the artistic aspects of singing, never letting pronunciation, oddly placed breaths, facial expressions, body language, misunderstanding of text, etc, slide. This seems kind of standard, but it's actually a really professional way of treating your students and made me personally, approach my music with as much professionalism as I had developed. I also found it extremely helpful that she explained why she did asked me to do certain things or ignore other things because, especially for beginners, classical training can seem like a black box and occasionally feels like it's taking you backwards. Having those explanations assuaged a lot of that fear. In my experience, I felt a lot of changes both explicitly and implicitly. I felt my voice grow, in range and strength, and my technical foundation and knowledge are both fairly solid. I stopped fidgeting and found a tremendously improved focus and composure while performing (a big problem for me). My Italian pronunciation is actually quite good now. My ear and internal tempo are both MUCH better. My theoretical knowledge is a lot more in depth than it was, (kind of a bonus because that's not her job). And my contextual knowledge of music is also at a much higher level than it would have been otherwise. Overall, Christine is a really talented teacher and musician who provides a lot of understandable but high level information, impeccable and PRECISE technique, and an artistic but academic approach to music and singing which lays a perfect philosophy in her students for continuing to grow as musicians.

You would be hard pressed to find a better teacher, and a better value, than Jimi Durso. He is incredibly patient, which is invaluable for students of any age. He has a methodology to his approach, but is always willing to accommodate those lessons where you rush in just HAVING to learn how to play a particular song. Jimi is also a stunningly talented musician, and an incredible improviser, so he is able to demonstrate his lessons regardless of the musical idiom you are working in. He also has a plethora of anecdotal examples to illustrate his lessons (and entertain as well!). Let me sum it up this way: after taking lessons with Jimi Durso for some time, I gave him a raise because I felt there was more value in his teaching than what I was paying. When was the last time you voluntarily paid more for something?

I came to Marty to learn to sign while I played my guitar. I was more curious to see if I can be a recreational vocalist. Marty has been working with me to identify the root note in a chord and how to sign in key. It's amazing what a professional like Marty can pick up on and help me with.

Matthew is very professional musician. He took a lot of time to assist me preparing a very special song list for my husband's birthday dinner party. My family really enjoyed themselves especially because of his soulful sounds from playing the saxophone. He was mesmerizing. And, we're going to invite him back in the near future. Thanks, Matthew!

My wife and I are extremely happy that we hired Mariko as the solo violinist at our Central Park, NY wedding on 11/16/2014. She is a super talented musician and a very friendly person. All of our interactions with her has been wonderful. Since my wedding was outdoors in Central Park, on a cold and windy day, Mariko was initially concerned that the weather may damage her equipment. But she quickly found a solution for us by offering to rent a violin so she can still play at the wedding. She showed up early to the ceremony location (before we even got there). We asked her to play "Canon in D" along with any songs that she feels would suit the occasion. Needless to say, all the songs she chose were romantic and sounded perfect for our wedding. My wife and I received many compliments from our guest about Mariko. We would definitely recommend Mariko to play at any special events.

Mark Weisman has been my son's piano teacher since he was 11 years old. Alex is now a proficient pianist at age 21. Under the tutelage of Mark, my son advanced from a music student to a true musician. Mark is an engaging teacher who introduces his students to a variety of music genres, keeping classical, standards and popular music all part of the student's repertoire. My son Alex's interest in music was spurred on by Mark's enthusiasm and style of teaching. The Music Workshop conducts annual performances for parents and friends so we can see the progress our children have made. My son is now in college and still studies with Mark on breaks and in the summer. Alex belongs to The Jazz Band at Loyola University as well as his own band. He has played professionally for cocktail hours and theater productions. Mark has inspired Alex to continue his music into his adulthood. Mark Weisman is an exemplary teacher and person.

Our family has been students of The Piano Workshop at Chester for more 8+ years. We are at-home students, so we are not always in the studio, but when we are, we are so impressed with the staff and the overwhelming love of music and dedication to passing that love along to the students. While our teachers have turned over through the years, the excellent talent and teaching skills have not. My son's current teacher, Sonia Kiernan, is a very special person, not only a very talented musician. How someone keeps a 15-year old boy's love for piano thriving like she does is beyond me!

Yisroel is a very knowledgable musician and producer. He worked with my original idea and helped me take it to the next level with his unique touch and musical sense. I also recorded a version of one of my favorite songs "a good day" from Peggy Lee and was very happy to have found my unique voice.

Paul is an exceptionally one of a kind musician with an immense knowledge and command of his instrument in the jazz genre for his age. He is a rare and especially valuable resource to advanced musicians, but also a great mentor for beginning guitarists of all levels as well. I am an upcoming graduate student at a jazz performance program, and have immensely benefited from Paul’s lessons and insights, and have not been able to find the same caliber of musicianship from others his age. His lessons provide as much value, or more, to me than from guitar instructors much older than him, and highly recommend Paul to any student wishing to gain a deep understanding of the guitar, harmony, theory, and overall musicianship. Paul has studied with the greatest jazz musicians in New York with his undergrad and masters in Jazz Performance, and I highly recommend his services to anyone wishing to gain some of the wisdom passed down to him through his studies with the best jazz programs around, at a tiny fraction of the costs of attending the actual programs - Owen

We had Yuto at our event on 1/16/2015. He was early and looked cool and well dressed and played such beautiful relaxing guitar music. He can play all the singers and standards but excels in being unique in the fact that he can play music from today on his guitar and you are aware of the songs but not really, it's subtle and that's what makes him so great! I particularly remember him playing Umbrella by Beyonce and it blew my mind.

Ms. Violetta Norrie is a professional musician. She plays the Harp which is a breathtaking and beautiful eye catching instrument with much precision and expression. Ms. Norrie showed up to my wedding event and Wowed the guest with her class, grace, and elegance. She melted their hearts when she played each selection on her Harp superbly and my event was quoted by my guests to be " a knock out and an Exquisite affair", along with so many more positive comments. Her business etiquette was on point! She was absolutely reliable which put my mind totally at ease. Ms. Norrie's commitment to perform at my event several months before was a depiction of her impeccable ability to be totally reliable. I highly recommend Ms. Violetta Maria Norrie for her professionalism and astonishing artistry as a musician. Dr. Andrea McLaren Mother of the Bride & Wedding Planner
