I am a Realtor who was seeking muscle/moving and clean-out help for a seller when I received a prompt response from Dariusz. Even though it was a holiday weekend, he was able to set a date with my client. They were thrilled with his service and said that they could not have been more professional! His prices were so reasonable that they have additional jobs planned with him. My clients felt lucky to have found such honest and hard working men to help them get their house ready for market. I will be referring Household Service Co to any and all of my buyers and sellers in the future.

Everything about off-site power cleaning greasy kitchen fan filters was clear and delivered as promised. That included an on-site warning that it would take more days than planned to clean the filters and so delivery had to be re-scheduled. I would definitely use this team again for anything else I needed.

Would definitely recommend Mike. He was quick to respond and did the job on short notice. He was very flexible in meeting our specific demands. We had two mattresses cleaned / sofa, carpet cleaned. Walls and ceiling including all floor surfaces were steam cleaned after a renovation. Mike did an awesome job - would definitely recommend.

AMSD was excellent at communicating. Our technician arrived in his time slot, he was very polite and friendly (and funny). He did excellent work and was willing to go over a couple of spots that we pointed out afterwards. This was an extremely positive experience and we will be contacting them for any steam cleaning needs we have in the future.

I hire 1 green way carpets to clean my 3 silk area rugs. Joe took my rugs to their shop for hand wash cleaning and I got them back after a week. The rugs look like brand new I was so happy with the service that I decided to let them clean my sofa that had some stain. About an hour later they were done and the stain was gone. I highly recommend them and I will use their service again in the future. Do your self a favor and hire 1Green Way Carpets to clean everything in your house.

They did a great job, just be sure to ask about prices before they come, as the price they quote is for the cheaper steam cleaning option but they recommend one that is much more expensive.

Hiring Yadi has been one of the best decisions I've made! Yadi is easy to contact and responsive. Her prices are fair and her work is exceptional. After cleaning my house I hired her (and her husband) to clean my mother's house who is elderly and coming home from a rehab facility. Her attention to detail and thoroughness was incomparable. I highly recommend Yadi Cleaning!!!

I cannot say enough about Pam and her team. They came to our office for a site visit and explained thoroughly what their process is like and the results we could expect. On day of service, they were all on time, prepared and professional. Our carpets were cleaned after work and dry for the next morning. They look bright, smell fresh and are visibly so much better! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Fantastic experience with Advanced Carpet. Jeffrey was prompt, courteous, and professional. He even suggested coming a day early because our original scheduled cleaning day had a forecast of snow. The carpet looks great and like new. Highly recommend!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.
