Elvis is a terrific chess instructor. His puzzles help develop the ability to see several moves ahead. He arrives with notes on what he wants to cover that day. Asks me to consult my notebook so we can review the things I learned in previous lessons. After three lessons, when I played with my husband, he commented on my Increased confidence, already. Elvis makes it clear that I can become a good chess player and I enjoy his company on the journey

Mr. Colding has been the chess coach and tutor for two of my boys for more than 7 years. My wife and I are very pleased with how chess has made a positive impact on their academic studies. They have also performed well in regional, state and national chess tournaments. I have personally witnessed Mr. Colding teach children chess, and he has an amazing ability to teach them chess strategies and how to deal with winning and losing in chess tournaments. He also goes over their games and helps them understand how they can improve their play. I strongly recommend Mr. Colding and Chess for Children.

I'll seriously teach you, if you try hard! I teach: 1. Positional theory 2. Endings 3. Chess vision (tactics) 4. Pattern recognition 5. Discipline at the board I avoid wasting time on listing opening moves. Instead, I go over common positions that occur in various openings. I cover opening theory as part of positional theory, which is more helpful. I expect students to do homework and play often. I promptly drop those who don't work hard. My rates are more if I travel to cover auto expenses. Group is cheaper. Contact me for my range without gas expenses.
