Susan D. says, "We had scheduled a one-day repair and restoration of the worn wooden stairs between the first and second floors of the house. When the team lifted the first tread to be replaced, the riser supporting it cracked, as did the baseboard at the side of staircase. All the components had been glued and nailed together like a giant puzzle; when one component was removed, the others fell apart. The entire staircase had to be rebuilt. While the team has done an excellent job, the work is going into a third day, with a $2500 cost overrun. On each of these first 2 days, we were told the team would arrive as early as 8 AM. We rose at 7 each morning to be ready for their arrival. And each day they arrived at 9:30 or later. The first day was complicated by traffic and snow removal in our neighborhood. But the second day, one should have accounted for that possibility. We are still not finished. So I have no photos of the completed project."See more
