I used Arbor Tutors for math and English tutoring for both the GMAT and the GRE (I didn't know what I wanted to do for grad school). I ended up in the top 10% for the GRE and 720 on the GMAT. My tutor was amazing!!! I was so happy my boyfriend hired Arbor for Spanish tutoring. Super happy!
Dan is a great tutor. He looked at what I was having trouble with and came up with a plan to bring my score up. He taught at my level (starting with basic algebra), sent me homework to review, and had the patience of a saint. He's also a nice guy — after our first session at Starbucks, I felt 100% comfortable having our second appointment at my kitchen counter. Ten sessions with Dan were far more helpful than the eight-week course I begun working with him. I'd highly recommend him to anyone seeking a great math tutor, for the GMAT or anything else.
Jeremy is very knowledgable, professional education coach who has mastered his field of child tutoring. Aside from being a fine math tutor, he is also helping our child with organization skills. Even though he is new to us, I can say that he is dedicated and dependable. There are no screaming matches in the house regarding her math work and she has started enjoying math which is a big plus. I would highly recommend Jeremy without any reservations. Regarding his fees; you may find a range of tuition fees on thumbtack but essentially you get what you pay for. Having a professional business myself I can tell you that he is certainly worth your child's education and self esteem Dr. K
Kamil is a wonderful GRE tutor! He has helped me prepare for the quantitative portion for the GRE. Kamil is willing to answer all questions and is helping me learn math skills as well as some useful tips for the GRE exam. I am confident that my score will improve significantly with Kamil's help!
Sasha is the greatest math tutor I could have asked for. I had no confidence in my GRE math ability before working with Sasha, and a few weeks later, now two days before my test, I know that there's no problem I can't handle. That's all thanks to Sasha.
Are you looking for a math tutor who is well prepared for each lesson, who is a math genius, who is clearly passionate about teaching and who really cares whether his students are making progress? Well, you have found him in Aron G. from Spring Valley, NY! I was having difficulty with trigonometry. The support I was receiving in my private school was very limited, but I still wanted to take the Regent. I had moved several times during my elementary schooling and then skipped a grade, which didn't exactly help my math background. I had worked with several private tutors on trigonometry for months to prepare for the Regent. No improvement. In fact, I was feeling less and less confident that I would be able to master the subject. It seemed like I wasn't fitting into the cookie cutter. Then I started to work with Mr. G. At our first class, I couldn't believe how well prepared he was. He had written his own outline of the topic for our lesson. He provided a broad overview of the topic at hand, which made sense to me. He showed me some examples. Then he had me doing problems on my own--and I could! Working with Mr. G. for several weeks really made me feel like I would be able to pass the Regent. Mr. G. built on my strengths. But he also quickly identified my weaknesses. We zeroed in on gaps that I had in my mathematics background. It turns out that though I was missing some basics, I actually have somewhat of a facility for trigonometry. Once Mr. G. helped me to close the gaps and acquire the missing basics, I was able to do the trigonometry. Now I not only feel good about trigonometry, but I feel good about math in general. I am so happy and grateful to have found such a great tutor and great teacher in Aron G. from Spring Valley, NY.
I worked with Dr. Fikar for my SAT Subject Tests. I was taking LIterature, Math Level 2 and Chemistry. When we first started, I was coming in with a 650 Lit., 660 Math, and 640 Chemistry. But the schools I was applying to required much highers scores than this. We spent two months on all three tests, and I finally took them again. I did so much better than I thought I could, and got a 740 Literature, and 800 on both Math and Chemistry! I am now in the process of retaking my ACT, as Dr. Fikar is certain I can go up by a few more points. His help has allowed me to have my pick of great schools to choose from. I'm very glad we went with him from the beginning.
Charles is an excellent tutor! He was professional, helpful, and radically improved my math score for the GRE. If I had to take the test again, I would absolutely hire Charles again (but thankfully, I don't, because he helped me so much the first time around!). If you're looking for a tutor to help you achieve real results, you've found him.
I connected with Jim through this website and did nine 90 minute tutoring sessions with him. We worked on refreshing my math skills, after 20+ years of limited use, in preparation for the GRE. Jim is professional, knowledgeable, and encouraging. He organized the initial sessions and gave homework. I brought back questions from the homework and he provided instruction. Jim is intentional and definitely individualizes his approach to the person he is tutoring. I had fun working with him. I can see Jim being skilled with people of all ages, as his manner is clear and personable; and Jim stays on task. My overall score on the quantitative reasoning section of the GRE improved as a result of Jim's tutoring, as did my overall test-taking experience. I highly recommend Jim and will use him again if needed.
Justin really helped me focus in on the areas that were major hurdles for me in math. I had always felt like I couldn't overcome my mental blocks in Algebra because it didn't come naturally to me and he gave me the confidence to look at the problems in a different light. I am so thankful I was able to find him!
Robert is an excellent tutor. I hired him for the SAT and it was a wonderful experience. Robert's visual learning style helped me as a visual artist. Through his drawings and other visual representations, I was able to understand tricky math and conceptual literature questions that confounded me before. Our meetings were both formal and informal. I felt like I really got to know Robert and established a comfortable relationship with him while maintaining the teacher/student dynamic. This was very helpful to me, because I generally feel more inclined to learn when I do not feel like my relationship with my teacher/mentor/etc is one sided.
Nataliya tutors me for the SAT, and so far it has been about 3 months. The lessons definitely improved my performance and are continuing to improve it. The first SAT I took, went very well because Nataliya had given me so much to think about and simple little tips to get through the test. The virtual format was very easy to use. The virtual tutoring felt exactly the same as it did when I tutored with her in person. I think the virtual tutoring is very nice for early lessons, especially for teens because you can tutor in your pajamas. The ipad stand also makes it very easy to show Nataliya your work and vice versa. On the other hand, it is very easy to say you did your homework and not have actually have done it because in some cases you don’t need to show it to Nataliya. It is also nice to easily be able to change the time of the lesson if necessary because it is just video chatting instead of having her come over to tutor. The lessons improved my confidence by a lot. I have always been a bad test taker, and I still am, but these lessons have definitely helped me get better. Nataliya nicely maps out what to expect on test day which makes it much easier going into the test. The lessons improved my work ethic and responsibility. Some people do take it upon themselves to tutor themselves, but with a tutor, like Nataliya, and knowing that you have to show her your work every week, pushes you to get your work done. At first, I left SAT homework for very last minute but recently the worksheets she has given me, I just bring to school and do whenever I have free time which is very convenient. Nataliya does a very good job of paying specific attention to each of her students. Each of her lessons and all of the homework assigned is very individualized depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the student. She also does a nice job of checking in with you once in a while concerning anything else that’s going on in your life. She is so easy to reach by text and email which makes everything very easy.
My daughter is taking Algebra 2 honors in he freshman year so it was difficult for her from begginng to catch up the program. We decided to find a tutor for her and found Mr. Hammerman. He is extremely patient and very knowledgeable. He has been working with my daughter for two month and her math skill and confidence improved greatly. Since then her grades went from C+ to A and gets above 90 in her test and quizzes. Mr. Hammermen is always available when we need him and is always on time. We would highly reccomend him as a math tutor.
Irine was my math teacher at UoP. Great techer! Very knowledgable and helpful
He helped my son to understand math and to improve his grades. Very patient
Max helped me prepare for my GRE exams, particularly for the math section. It had been a while since I had practiced many of the skills for the exam, and he was not only thoroughly knowledgeable, but also excellent at teaching me how to solve the problems at my own pace. The topics we reviewed ranged from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and some calculus. Any time I have a major exam in the future, I will definitely be using Max as my preferred tutor!
Charlie recently tutored/taught me GMAT style math to apply to the case portion of management consulting interviews. It had been years since I had performed this type of math because I took the GRE to get into b-school. Charlie is an exceptional teacher who exhibits clear mastery of all math concepts and the patience and teaching style necessary to relay that knowledge. I am happy to report that after 2 tutoring sessions with Charlie I was able to perform case prep at a much higher level and ultimately landed an internship with a prestigious consulting firm this summer. 10/10 would absolutely use Charlie again for a range of math topics.
Even though I have lived in America for a few years, when I needed to study for the GRE I knew that I would need a tutor to get good score. Dwight was a fun and knowledgeable tutor who makes lessons interesting and really focused on my weaknesses to help me get better. I would recommend him to my best friend.
We care about our students and it shows in how we approach and talk to them.
I am an IT professional with a passion for teaching. I teach computer, math and SAT lessons for individuals and groups.
Italian: I am fluent in Italian after having studied it for 9 years through various mediums: public school classes, private lessons, self-studying, and, most recently, moving to Rome for 6 months in 2015, where I completed a true immersion experience by living with an Italian host family and taking political science courses taught in Italian at the Università di Roma 3. I try to read Italian books and the Italian newspapers as much as possible. As an American who speaks fluent Italian, I believe that I can help you no matter what your level is. I understand where English-speakers get confused about Italian grammar and vocabulary (ie. false friends), and know exactly how to explain these things to clear up the confusion. In addition, having lived in Rome and seen 12 of the 20 Italian regions, I believe that I can share my cultural knowledge and weave it into language lessons, making them more interesting. I also speak some French and a little Spanish and I can help you relate your Italian studies to these languages if you speak them. Math/Science: I have been tutoring middle and high school students for the past 6 years and enjoying working one-on-one with students to help them succeed. My approach is a combination of content and problem-solving with a focus on critical thinking. I explain everything in a way that allows the student to understand both the solution to a problem and the theory that the problem is based on. In other words, I avoid "tricks" which do not work 100% of the time and often create mental blocks when the student is faced with a problem that is slightly different from the one for which they were taught the "trick". By avoiding tricks, the student learns to really understand the concept, allowing them to apply it to problems they are not familiar with and to higher-level courses courses, all while building their critical thinking skills.
