Debbie took great care of my pet cat (and house!) when I went away for a 5 day vacation in August, and I would absolutely use her again and again in the future. The things about Debbie and her services that impressed me the most: she was very reliable, very competent, very trustworthy, and very flexible with her scheduling to suit my needs. Now what more can a pet owner ask for in a pet sitter?! She is like “the perfect” pet sitter in each of those categories. I will say that because I had never needed a pet sitter before, I was reluctant to give a “stranger” a key to my house and to trust them to take care of my cat and to stay in my house while I was in another state, but after meeting with Debbie for a while I just knew she would treat my pet and my home with the finest of care and she did just that. I can say without a doubt that knowing Debbie was “in charge” of my cat (and even my house in the unlikely event a pipe broke or something while I was away…an added bonus!) truly allowed me to enjoy my vacation so much more; I honestly felt as if a family member or close friend was taking care of things and that was priceless. Debbie did an A+ job and I am so happy to now have a great pet sitter when I need one!

Liz was very professional and caring with my cats. She got 2 of my feral cats to come out which they usually never do for New visitors. She sent me pictures everyday while I was away. She even did a few extra things like taking the trash out and she sent me pictures of my cats everyday while I was away which I loved. Great pet sitter and person.

Peggy was absolutely amazing with my teacup Yorkie Rocky! She went beyond expectations! She watched Rocky multiple times and even kept him over night at her house for a few days. She always made sure that Rocky was happy and that he had plenty of time to play and run around. Took him on long walks, bought him treats and even got him some new toys! I could tell that my dog adored her and he was always so excited to see her! I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter! Kim

Kayla is awesome! We enrolled our two and a half month old Doberman Pinscher puppy in training classes learning how to do basic comands. She is very flexible with our schedule and we meet at a local park to do our training. Kayla connected with our puppy immediately. After our first class she was successful in teaching our dog the basic sit and stay. She really focuses on us the owners how to teach our puppy the correct way to train our dog. We have had a total of four classes and we have been successful in teaching our dog sit, stay, lay, come, paw, heel, long leash training and walk wonderfully on a leash! Since we meet at a local park there are lots of distractions like people, children, other dogs and even a horse and she was able to keep his attention and keep him focused on the tasks at hand. I would recommend her to anyone! I wish I knew about her sooner for my other pups!

Karen is amazing! I never ever worry about my dogs when she is here. (And i have rescue dogs one of which has issues.) I can travel and work with peace of mind. She is gentle; Dependable; Trustworthy. My dogs love her. She goes above and beyond all the time. I have had numerous dog sitters in the past. No more. This woman will always be the one i call for dog sitting. Do yourself a favor. Ditch the others and go with Karen. She’s fabulous!

Each one of us has our own levels of satisfaction and I can say that mine is at the top with Seaton stables and that if I am to scale it from 1-10 and 10 being the highest, mine would be a 10. I’m very hard to please and I barely express my appreciation towards someone. But this time, I feel the need to speak up and share my experience with Seaton Hackney Stables because of the negative reviews here. I think that it’s really unfair to them because they’re really doing a great job. The volunteers and instructors work hard to make every visitor’s or rider’s experience an awesome one. I can say that they take good care of the horses because the horses are very healthy and energetic. They deserve to be complimented not criticized. I’ve recommended Seaton Hackney Stables to friends and relatives and they thanked me for telling them about this awesome place. Like me and my family, they had a wonderful experience at the stables. Keep up the good work, Seaton Stables!

Tammy took care of my two young cats while we were on vacation and she was amazing. She sent me pics and daily updates and when we came home the cats were calm and normal behavior... not stressed out at all. This was the first time we left them for a lengthy time. We will definitely use her in the future and fees were affordable and comparable to other sitters.

Don't look any further! Peggy is just brilliant! Not only a great pet sitter but a lovely person. I have had many pet sitters in the past and I didn't know this kind of service was possible, she provides daily updates and cute pictures while we are away, she buys Rosita (a tiny chichi) yummy treats and gives her tons of love. She is so responsible, sweet, experienced (she has a big bunch of rescue pets herself) and caring that my dog misses her and of course she stops by once in a while to pet her and let her know she is still around. We feel very lucky to have her in our lives! :-)

Donna is professional, punctual, attentive and absolutely wonderful with my pups! They immediately bonded with her and she with them! She took great care of them while I went on a business trip, and administered their meds as directed. Donna also kept in communication with me, providing updates and even sent me a pic of my pups with hearts which was totally awesome! I highly recommend Donna Perona as a dog sitter! 🐶🐶

My daughter and I both ride at Clearview Stables. Teresa Adams is a caring trainer that brings out the best in both horse and rider. She has a gift for understanding the individual horse's personality and works with you on the best training plan. For those who do not own a horse, Clearview has wonderful lesson horses and ponies for every level and all ages. Bonus: the indoor ring enables riding in all types of weather.

About

I'm a responsible individual who loves working with animals. After ending my time in the Marine Corps, I started school in the local area. I work with horses and dogs, and have been involved in training dogs for several years. I love all animals; I've volunteered at an equestrian center, interned at a veterinary hospital, and worked at a pet store in high school. I've surrounded myself with animals my entire life, and just love being around them.

About

I've been riding since I was 10. I can teach and ride both English/Western, from beginners to amateurs. I can also exercise the horse and train him from a rescue horse to more trained horses. I work with all ages as well and do trail riding. Also, I clean and groom stalls.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
