Tony was awesome, quick and his prices were extremely reasonable. He not only fixed my dryer the very next day, he also let me know of safety hazards with my machine and was not pushy about him being the one to do any additional work needed. Informative and does quality work. I would recommend Tony to everyone looking for appliance repair.

Came at 9pm and stayed for 2-1/2 hrs to fix my emergency. fixed what another said had to be replaced. Great guy. Explained what he was doing, what he found. Gave recommendations for further maintenance and repair. Contacted me when running late. Stayed to make sure it was cooling well enough. Texted me next morning to make sure it was still okay. Superb.

Ges came over to help me unclog my toilet because a tube of toothpaste was accidentally flushed down. He removed the toilet and snaked the toilet and flush is all back to normal. Professional, and most important of all - has the paperwork for any type of co-op situation in NYC (large insurance requirements). Definitely will contact him again for future plumbing/home repair issues.

I needed my refrigerator repaired. I got a quote from P&T Appliance Repair. The manager called to confirm that the men were on the way. She was very polite and professional. Two men promptly showed up. They were courteous enough the take their shoes off before entering my house. They were extremely professional. A job they estimated would take 90 minutes took longer. They worked past their closing time without complaining and did not charge me anymore than they quoted. They cleaned up their workspace and made sure I examined their work before I paid them. I would definitely recommend them to other people and use them again if I ever need any repairs done. If you are in need of repairs, this is the company to call!

i went thru several appliance repair companies to get a new ice maker put in my new but past warrantied fridge, the guys either didn't show up, were rude, or put in a bad/not new device. finally decided to find a guy on my own, bernhard was prompt, courteous, professional, experienced, and did a great job. i've finally had ice for a few months running now.

they arrived on time as scheduled, conducted a thorough inspection of my fridge/freezer that wasn't staying down to temperature, clear understanding and explanation of the likely problem and solution, direct quote before undertaking the work so i knew what i'd be facing, took care to avoid scratching my floors, and cleaned up afterwards, and the price was fairly reasonable. would definitely recommend them for home appliance repairs.

I had a ceiling repair that involved Sheetrock replacement, Spackle and Paint. The crew arrived on time, worked hard and got the project done in one day. Chris was courteous, efficient and skilled. When they left, everything was clean and put back to place as much as possible with some wet paint. I recommend Chris for any construction project. His quotes are reasonable and job well done.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
