FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At first i usually have a conversation with students' parents about the goals that parents would like to set for their child. I also ask the child why he or she wants to learn to play piano and try to find out as much as i can about my new student----about his or her interests, hobbies and favorite subjects in school. Then we will begin our lessons with the first few books for beginners. A couple of months later, depending on the individual speed of learning, I start bringing photocopies of songs that I select for each particular students. These songs are part of my collection---they are exquisite masterpieces for different levels and from different musical periods and by composers from different countries. A student gets exposed to different musical forms, such as sonatas, preludes and fugues, etudes, French dances such as Minuets, Ecossaises and etc. We also learn folk songs from different countries as well as some rock and country music. On Christmas we learn famous Christmas songs which I have in numerous arrangements. I make sure that my students are always growing and are never bored.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from a special Music school at the Russian State Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In the United States I received a Masters in Education from New York University in 2005 and I completed a Diploma degree in Piano Performance at the Mannes College of Music in NYC. I am fluent in French and Russian and have been happy to teach few students from France ---I love to speak French!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with people who appreciate the beauty and the legacy of classical music. Every family and every student I taught are very special to me. There is an amazing connection through music that seems to be already there even before the first lesson starts. I love my job and I wouldn't exchange it for anything else. Music is my life and sharing my love for music is the biggest joy for me.
