Introduction: My service stands out as a personal trainer because my clients training experience with me is very personalized and one on one. I own a small gym located in the North East Heights of Albuquerque. Its a non-membership based gym so its just you and I most of the time in the facility when training with me. You just pay for personal training, no gym membership on top of that. Along with myself, I have two awesome trainers that train out of the gym. So you have options as far as which trainer you would feel more comfortable with and who is the best match for you! There is usually no more then 5 people in the gym at a time so clients feel more comfortable and are able to get more done. Training options consist of one-on-one, group training, as well as couples training. Adding more friends, or your significant other to training with you, not only makes it more fun but more cost effective! I myself and my trainers create individual plans specifically obtaining to the clients needs, wants, and goals. I take the time to really observe, motivate, and help my clients succeed! With that being said, it's such an amazing feeling watching the confidence within my clients increase over time, and just their overall progress during their whole training experience with me. Shelby's attention to detail and ability to craft workouts tailored to her clients needs and desires is absolutely superb. She keeps workouts moving and with just the right mix of exercises. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to improve their fitness.

I would absolutely recommend Shelby. I know the difficulties of juggling work life and home life! Especially with a new addition to the family. I think she’s done a great job at accommodating her clients needs, coming from experience. I know she does her best to work with your schedule and will meet you early morning or do a late night work out. She’ll even meet during a lunch break if I absolutely have to. All of her weekly plans are very specific and to the point so there’s no confusion when trying to stay within your macros etc. The gym is always clean and organized which I appreciate because you don’t get that experience being in a larger setting. Working out with her is very comfortable and she encourages you the ENTIRE way. She pushes me when I feel like I can’t do another rep. I have hit goals I never thought I’d reach after hiring her for training. If you’re looking for someone that you can not only be work out partners, but also friends with, Shelby is the right trainer for you.

UPDATE: I initially wrote a 5 star review within the first week of training because Shelby told me to review early on. I should have waited because it ended up being extremely disappointing. Let me start off by saying although Shelby is very kind and pleasant, her time management lacks. I understand personal training allows you to make your own schedule but only to some degree. As a trainee you have to be flexible as well which I definitely tried to be but it was hard to do with last minute changes-all the time. When signing up you pay for a package for the entire month prior to beginning. She set my macros and gave me homework the first week. We started out strong and then by the second week, she had been rescheduling/cancelling last minute. At first it was for reasons that seemed to make sense like her kid was sick or a funeral. Then it just stuff like oil change wasn’t done yet and just rearranging and changing times hour(s)before the confirmed time. I work night shift and I usually have to set an alarm to wake up early to go train. So when my alarm goes off, most of the time I would wake up to a text saying she couldn’t make it work today after we had confirmed times but that we’ll definitely get our sessions in the next few days or the following week. Then I wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep and I’d be a zombie at the hospital. Then it continues to get rescheduled to the point where I don’t see her for a week or more. I wanted to train 3x a week consistently and it took all of June and all of July to get my 12 sessions in when it should have only taken one month. Everyone was telling me this was highly unprofessional as it is a business and she can’t just cancel on people like that. I kept making excuses for her because when we would get our sessions in, they were productive. I willingly paid for another month because she said she would be better and that this month was a fluke. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and then I had trained the first session of my new package. We then planned to meet on a particular day and time and she had mentioned it multiple times leading up to the day because she had cancelled again the day before. I texted her when I woke up before work asking if we were still on. No response. Texted again 10 minutes later. No response. I thought she was probably training someone and I’ll just go ahead and get up and go because if she cancelled she always texts me. I show up and she’s not there. Business is closed. No text saying she couldn’t make it or anything. I was so upset. That’s where I drew the line. I immediately told her we were not a good fit and that I wanted a refund for the remaining 11/12 sessions I had paid for. She proceeds to tell me I showed up without confirmation (which wasn’t true) and that she does not do refunds and never will. She offered a free session and said i had to finish the package or lose my money. I was not going to make a big deal out of it but not getting a refund for sessions I haven’t gotten is absurd in my opinion. I wanted to share my true review so others who want consistency in a trainer do not go with Shelby. She was talking about implementing a 24hr cancellation policy yet she could not even hold herself to it. I will say if she works on not constantly rescheduling last minute and cancelling, the workouts themselves are great. She does a fantastic job of keeping you motivated during the workout. If you want to go once a week or once every now and then, Shelby will be a good fit for you. If you are training to really see a huge difference that needs consistency, my experience was not great with her. I don’t know if I caught her at a bad time but regardless I don’t think any paying customer should be treated this way. I understand there are two sides to every story but this is my side. I did not want to leave a review like this but she left me no choice. I would want to know if anyone else had an experience like this when looking into trainers.

Shelby is super awesome. Very motivating, and kind. Goes by pretty fast!! I almost want to stay and do more! She knows what she is talking about and knows the body very well and helps you reach your goal! I just started and I'm SO excited for this journey!!   • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    I offer 1-on-1 training, couples training, and group training (3-4people per group.) Pricing ranges from $35-$65 per hour depending on whether its 1-on-1, or group training as well as how many sessions a week. I highly recommend group training because it makes training so much for fun and affordable!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I offer a free consultation which will be at my facility or it can be done by phone as well. At that time we will discuss your goals, nutrition, injuries, as well as you will get to see the facility I train clients out of, and get to learn more about myself and how I do personal training.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I am a NASM certified personal trainer, as well a certified nutrition specialist, resistance training, and Silver sneakers certified. So I specialize in working with clients that are looking to gain muscle, booty gains, lose fat, build overall strength upper/ lower, core and lower back to prevent any injuries. With being silver sneakers certified as well I work with lots of individuals 65+ working to work on balance, core, and overall strength to maintain staying active as getting older.
