Suzanne Dawson,
40+ years of experience
M.M. Piano Pedagogy and Performance
With more than four decades of professional teaching experience and advanced degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, I offer thoughtful , structured instruction tailored to each student's goals and learning style. My studio emphasizes healthy technique, musical understanding, and joyful progress.
I welcome motivated students of all ages - from six, to adults beginning or returning to the piano - and design lessons to build both technical skill, lasting confidence, and both classical and contemporary fluency. I work best with students and families who value regular practice and steady growth.
My formal training includes a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and a Bachelors degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, along with postgraduate studies in jazz, composition, and songwriting. I am also a published composer. I hold national certification with the American Music Teachers Association, and I'm the current president of the New Mexico Federation of Music Clubs and regularly encourage my students to participate in the annual Gold Cup Junior Festival.
Monthly sessions include three private lessons - 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on age and level - and one group performance class at no extra charge. I am happy to meet with you before you decide on a teacher.
