Introduction: I have a bachelor’s degree in music education with primary instruments in piano and voice. I also went to graduate school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City music conservatory with a major in piano performance. I have taught private lessons and was also a music teacher in public and private schools with over 35 years of experience. I have played in secular and worship bands for many years with experience in reading chord charts and the ability to play by ear, which is why I offer services in a wide variety of music as well as traditional lessons. My goal is to find the interest of the student and an area in which the student excels so that it is a more enjoyable experience for the student. It is extremely rewarding to see students grow and become comfortable and confident.

I worked with Joyce when I was younger and she was a great piano teacher. She was knowledgeable, very patient and I always had fun at my lessons! I went to the American Music Association when I was 11 and got 2nd place out of a large number of students. I moved and had to stop taking lessons, but now I've moved back and my son is going to start taking lessons from her when he turns 3! I highly recommend Joyce!

Ms. Hamilton is a wonderful piano instructor. My 6 years old son has enjoyed his lessons and has developed a strong music foundation for the past 4 months. She is very patient and caring. Every step of the way, she makes sure that my son understands his lessons and help him succeed. She writes down what he needs to practice at home and follows up with him the next lessons. I'm very pleased that my son has learned his piano in a truely caring and warm environment. I would recommend her to anyone.

Joyce is by far the best piano teacher I’ve ever had. She teaches all levels both online and in studio. Her professionalism and knowledge are outstanding, and my playing has improved immensely under her mentorship. I highly recommend Joyce.

Joyce is an amazing piano instructor. My daughter is 4 and has a very short attention span. Joyce is so patient with her, making sure my daughter understands the lesson. My daughter is usually very shy around adults. She is so comfortable around Joyce and looks forward to her piano lesson every week. Joyce is so great that I have started taking piano lessons with her, as well. Highly recommend!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fee is $30 for half hour lessons, $45 for 45 minutes, and a discounted price of $55 for 1 hour. The first lesson is free!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each student is different which means that I adjust to each unique personality. The first question I ask is "Do you have any previous experience in music?" Whether experienced or not I try to make each student feel comfortable about singing or playing the first time especially if he or she is nervous. Once they are comfortable with me it makes learning much more enjoyable.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree in music education with emphasis on piano and voice. Worked one year on masters in piano performance at UMKC (Kansas City) Music Conservatory.
