FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to try to open a kindergarten enrichment program that would allow me to work with a small group of children on the concepts that were most necessary to help them achieve. I missed the interaction with children after my retirement and felt this would provide a valuable service and allow me to continue doing the thing I love most.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
After retiring I have most commonly worked with students who attend private schools, but their parents want them to achieve to the very best of their ability. They know that the one-on-one instruction is ideal. My experience with the public school system was mostly with struggling readers. I have enjoyed both challenges very much.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure your tutor has the knowledge to provide what your child needs. I would look at the experience they have with your child's age group (teaching reading to a kindergartner or 1st grader is entirely different than teaching a middle schooler). I would check any references they may have.
