FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am ordained by the Universal Life Church, I've been a wedding planner, and I have an MA in Writing. As a former college professor, teaching, speaking, writing, organizing, attention to detail, and time management are my fortés and serve me well as an officiant.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a part-time wedding planner before becoming an officiant. I found I liked focusing on the couple and on the different aspects of the ceremony. My passion became wanting to help create the couple's "marry moment" and actually join them together to begin their adventure of a whole new life.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I worked with a couple on a tight budget after the pandemic and created a very symbolic coin ceremony for them. The bride was not happy with the very small, plastic coins she had ordered online to use in the coin ceremony, so I suggested using real coins. Her fiance wanted fifty-cent pieces, so between the three of us, we gathered the coins within a few weeks. It made all the difference to the couple for their ceremony and the guests loved the unique take on the tradition.
