I started taking singinglessons with Matthew 8 months ago, having never taken lessons before and being quite shy about singing in public. From the very first class, he created a safe, encouraging environment that helped me feel comfortable exploring my voice.
In just a few months, I’ve become more in control of my voice and have learned to listen to myself with a more technical and constructive perspective. Matthew is dedicated to ongoing professional growth and brings fresh, fun, and highly specific exercises to every lesson, and they always deliver wonderful results. He has also taught me that singing is a full-body effort, deepening my awareness of my instrument. I would recommend Matthew to students of any level, because his teaching adapts to each person’s needs, helping them find focus, confidence, and joy in making music.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Payment is due after every lesson or session. Occasionally for lessons, I will accept payment up front for the month. I typically don't offer discounts, and I charge an additional $15 for travel to a student’s home.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know each student and/or artist before working with them by setting up a phone call prior to our first meeting to make sure I fully understand their goals, skill level, and any other situations that may influence their learning and/or artistry.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My experience is vast and spans more than 20 years. I'm a classically trained vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, which has allowed me to work with an immense array of artists in musical contexts ranging from classical to pop and rock, jazz, hip/hop and rap, studio and live performance work. I've been a producer and mix engineer for the better part of 10 years, owning a recording studio in CT, and now recording/mixing/mastering for artists remotely or in-studio. I compose, arrange, and produce music, as well.
My teaching experience is heavily based in Social-Emotional methodology, influenced by the teachings and theories of Dewey and Vygotsky.
