Introduction: I am a NY based actor and teacher. My training and teaching reflect what I learned as a student at the Yale School of Drama, under Ron Van Lieu and as a teaching apprentice at The Juilliard School, under Christopher Bayes. Whether an actor is beginning or well seasoned, my approach is always through breath, action, objective and personalization.
The ambition of my work as a teacher is to help actors gain access to their source of playfulness and to the virtuosity of their imaginations. I want to be astonished by an actor's ferocity of passion expressed without worry and given away with complete abandon. I love to see actors surprised by their talent.

Carter is an amazing coach and I'm sure an equally amazing director. He helped me prepare for graduate school auditions. He was both candid and inspiring in his coaching. He was also very helpful and organized as far as finding new material. Having attended on of the most prestigious Graduate Acting programs in the country and presently teaching at at least 2 of the top 5 Undergraduate programs, as well as having students and friends currently attending top programs, he definitely has his finger on the pulse of what the different schools have to offer, what they are looking for, and in many cases, what will most likely take place during the auditions and the interviews.

Carter is a fantastic coach! I worked with him for graduate school audition prep, and general acting work. He is patient, focused, energetic, and creates an open and trusting environment which encourages taking risks and playing. Each session he brings something new to try, whether it be clowning, Alexander technique, or chakra work, that really helped me open up and make new discoveries with my work. I absolutely recommend him as a coach!

I worked with Carter on a graduate school audition package as well as on stand alone audition pieces and a few voice and breath sessions. I've worked with him multiple times because he's great.
Carter excelled at helping me personalize my pieces rather than steering me toward some plutonic ideal. This left me feeling more empowered and confident in the work presented in auditions.
Carter helped me attack the work from multiple directions (chakra work and the vocal sessions were stand outs) that advanced the process without anything ever feeling stale.
Carter's energy, empathy, and depth of knowledge make him an ideal teacher and coach.

I worked with Carter on monologues for grad school auditions, and he was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly present, professional, and a blast to be in the room with. He helped me specify my choices and fully realize the imaginary circumstances, and was also incredibly helpful with text work for my classical pieces. With his help, I got into several of my top choices for school. Highest recommendation.

Carter is a gifted, intuitive, and generous coach. Working with him, I felt so supported and encouraged. An actor himself, Carter has personal experience with the grad school grind, knows his stuff when it comes to Shakespeare, and has a great sense of humor. I heartily recommend him. My grad school auditions were successful and I largely credit Carter's coaching for helping me get in!
