FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am continually studying! When I get one certification, I immediately start moving to the next! Personal training, nutrition, yoga, and dance were all separate certifications I studied for. In addition to all of that, I am always attending webinars/seminars, reading articles, and incorporating the latest fitness trends into my clients' workouts.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been dancing since I was 2 years old and was always very healthy and aware of my body without really trying. I took it for granted. In college, I put on about 40 pounds and didn't even really realize it. I wasn't eating right, I wasn't working out, and my self esteem plummeted. I no longer felt like myself. Finally I'd had enough and decided to get into shape. I hired a trainer, cleaned out my fridge, and got to work! I lost all of the weight and put on more muscle and tone than I'd had before. I felt amazing again! I got so into it that I decided to make it my career. If I could help someone else on that journey, I would consider my life worth something! Since that time, I have become a certified trainer, a nutrition specialist, a yoga instructor, and a dance teacher. I have also put back on 20 pounds, but this time in lean muscle. It's completely changed my life. Especially as a woman, to feel strong and empowered in my body in a society that tells me my body isn't my own is truly amazing. I got a taste of that and couldn't stop!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my clients just want to be overall healthy. I train athletes, people recovering from injuries, and other specific need groups. However most of my clients want to lose weight, build muscle and strength, increase flexibility, get on a nutrition plan, build endurance, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
