FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In my previous life, before becoming a registered NYC Officiant and Wedding Wordsmith, I was in the non-profit world of fundraising and grant writing. I wore many hats but my favorite was sharing the stories of resilient NYC foster care youths and their triumphs despite the challenges they've faced! While I've always had a knack for storytelling, I use the interviewing skills I've gained from my non-profit heyday to gain a real sense of a couple, their feelings, their thoughts, their hopes, and what they really want to say but might have a hard time expressing. With that, I customize every ceremony, vows, wedding websites, and all the "I Do's" in between.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was the first of my family and friends to get married so I was the first to write my own vows. Some guests were so touched by my vows that years later they requested help in writing THEIR vows. Some even asked for help in writing their Maid of Honor toasts or Best Man speeches. Once friends of friends of friends asked for help, I thought I'd start Once Upon A Vow and help every adorkably in love couple during one of the most important days of their lives!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with a range of quirky in love couples - from LGBT couples to Spanish-speaking bilingual couples and non-denominational couples to interfaith couples. I'm a sucker for love and marriage so tell me your story!
