The best SAT and ACT tutors in the business.
Dan is a great tutor. He looked at what I was having trouble with and came up with a plan to bring my score up. He taught at my level (starting with basic algebra), sent me homework to review, and had the patience of a saint. He's also a nice guy — after our first session at Starbucks, I felt 100% comfortable having our second appointment at my kitchen counter. Ten sessions with Dan were far more helpful than the eight-week course I begun working with him. I'd highly recommend him to anyone seeking a great math tutor, for the GMAT or anything else.
I hired Jeremy to tutor me in the ACT. I contacted him planning for to get at least a 30 on the ACT. I am now aiming for a 34 on my next ACT due to Jeremy's tutoring. He has been exceeding my expectations in the way he deconstructs the test and makes doing well on it so much easier. In addition, he serves as my college adviser, and I have finally been given some good direction in the complex college process. Right now, I am looking into high level schools like multiple Ivy League schools, WashU in St. Louis, Vanderbilt, Tufts, and Bucknell. Also, he is very flexible with scheduling and very personal with students and family. Highly recommended!
I started working with Kamil late in my college process. Many tutors doubted that I had enough time to prep and were only willing to work with me as a sort of "second hand client". With only two months left before my last possibly act during my senior year, Kamil and I worked day and night to achieve my goal score. Often meeting before and running after midnight only to see each other at six the next day, Kamil and I turned my test scores around to help me get into Cornell University. Kamil is kind, conscientious and committed. For him, standardized testing tutoring is a calling. He is his own brand.
Sasha is a phenomenal math tutor. She is patient, knowledgeable and extremely gifted in simplifying complex concepts. I would go to class understanding topics that other students struggled with. To put it simply, she is professor quality at the price of an affordable tutor. No disappointments, no areas of improvement needed.
Are you looking for a math tutor who is well prepared for each lesson, who is a math genius, who is clearly passionate about teaching and who really cares whether his students are making progress? Well, you have found him in Aron G. from Spring Valley, NY! I was having difficulty with trigonometry. The support I was receiving in my private school was very limited, but I still wanted to take the Regent. I had moved several times during my elementary schooling and then skipped a grade, which didn't exactly help my math background. I had worked with several private tutors on trigonometry for months to prepare for the Regent. No improvement. In fact, I was feeling less and less confident that I would be able to master the subject. It seemed like I wasn't fitting into the cookie cutter. Then I started to work with Mr. G. At our first class, I couldn't believe how well prepared he was. He had written his own outline of the topic for our lesson. He provided a broad overview of the topic at hand, which made sense to me. He showed me some examples. Then he had me doing problems on my own--and I could! Working with Mr. G. for several weeks really made me feel like I would be able to pass the Regent. Mr. G. built on my strengths. But he also quickly identified my weaknesses. We zeroed in on gaps that I had in my mathematics background. It turns out that though I was missing some basics, I actually have somewhat of a facility for trigonometry. Once Mr. G. helped me to close the gaps and acquire the missing basics, I was able to do the trigonometry. Now I not only feel good about trigonometry, but I feel good about math in general. I am so happy and grateful to have found such a great tutor and great teacher in Aron G. from Spring Valley, NY.
We have recently hired Dr. Fikar and Harvard Review as SAT/ACT tutors for my son. Thus far they have been prompt and very professional. Dr. Fikar is a great motivator and seems to have invaluable knowledge of the test and how to get great results. We are at the start of our training but we already feel that we have made a great choice. He is fast to reply and easy to work with. And most importantly, my son if fired up to do well.
He was very helpful and always well-prepared. He knew the material very well and he taught me a lot. Furthermore, I found his use of technology particularly helpful.
One of the best tutors my daughter ever had. She struggled with the sat for a year until we found him. He made lessons around her needs and that helped her do well. She was able to get into the college she wanted.
I have just started working with one of the tutors from Odyssey and I am extremely pleased. John was great and connected me with an appropriate tutor for my needs. Thus far I am a satisfied customer!
I first contacted Charles after sitting for my GMAT exam and being disappointed with my score. I thought I could do much better and after reading reviews of his tutoring work, I decided he would be best to help me improve my score. I was hoping Charles could show me where I was struggling because I felt I had a good handle on the material before each exam before. I purchased multiple GMAT tools from all the top courses, but apparently, I kept missing something. During my first session with Charles, he immediately knew how to solve each question efficiently, showing me multiple ways to arrive at the same answer. He also taught me mental math skills that saved me precious time in the difficult quant section. Charles was sincere in letting me know the amount of time and effort needed to score above 700. He planned out our sessions accordingly, making sure I mastered each topic before moving on. I appreciated how Charles set up our classes with short drill sets to test the concepts he taught me and if I continued to struggle with them, we would review until my understanding was concrete. After working with Charles three times a week for two months, I saw a 150 point increase in my official GMAT score. I would recommend Charles to anyone who plans on taking the GMAT or any other standardized exam.
You know its a nightmare out there, looking for the right fit for your kids when you are searching for test prep tutors. I have twins going into the SATs and there are just so many bad teachers out there. I really had to ask Chelsea International a lot of questions when I came across them. I have to say, they blew me away. Not just with their professional nature, but also with their level of expertise, care, and true understanding of what it takes to bring out your childs fullest potential. I would recommend this tutoring service to anyone. The kids have been working with them now for the last few months, and the difference in their work is amazing. I am really looking forward to seeing their scores after their SAT tests.
Daniel is an incredible job preparing my daughter for the SAT. She managed an over 300 point jump in her practice tests. Most importantly, Daniel make my daughter more confident in her abilities and comfortable with the overall process. A good tutor inspires a student not only to work hard, but also to expect better things from themselves and Daniel certainly excelled at that.
Before I first started working with John, everything I knew about the LSAT had come from taking one practice test several months earlier. I had done absolutely no preparation for this practice test, and I think I had scored somewhere around the mid-150s. John quickly familiarized me with basics of the test, and soon I was scoring in the low to mid 160s-range. My best section quickly became the Logic Games, thanks to John’s efficient teaching of it. However, what stumped me over and over again was dealing with uncertainty in the Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension sections, with picking the best answer out of an entire set of mediocre answers and with questions that didn’t seem to fit into neat patterns that the majority of LSAT questions and answers fell into. Luckily, I had found a fantastic tutor to help me. John was always extremely patient and meticulous. He made sure to give me thorough explanations for questions that I had difficulty fully comprehending to make sure I had a complete understanding of why the right answer was correct. He did not give up even when I would say, “Uh…ok” to his initial explanation when he heard the hesitation in my voice. John gave me weekly assignments specifically tailored to my progress. He worked very hard to mold my brain to be the best LSAT-conquering brain that it could be. He even requested that I email him my Word document of LSAT notes every time I updated it. At the same time, he was not at all a grim and harsh tutor, and freely gave me encouragement whenever I expressed my fears that I was just not smart enough to score as high as I wanted to on the LSAT. John was always flexible and understanding about my schedule–I first studied for the LSATs while juggling a summer internship and conducting interviews for a senior thesis, then again during my winter break and then during the first few weeks of my senior spring semester. John never demanded that I work around his schedule. He even travelled to China during the summer, but made sure to make time for our lessons that took place effectively over video chat. Alas, I improved but did not score as well as I wanted to the first time I took the LSAT. The second time around, along with my usual weekly assignments and lessons, John instructed me to start making flashcards of all my wrong answers from practice exams and to use the Leitner flash card review technique to study my cards. (This technique involves: (i) separating flash cards into 4 boxes, with each card getting promoted to the next box when the correct answer is given or moving the card back to Box 1 when an incorrect answer is given, and (ii) using a schedule of which boxes should be studied on which day of the week.) During lessons, John and I would fill out new flash cards. John made sure that I not only wrote down why the right answer was right and my wrong answer was wrong, but also precisely what to look out for with these questions and answers, so that I would not miss these traits or clues the next time I encountered them in other questions. I am almost certain this technique was one of the main reasons I scored a 171 the second time I took the LSAT. Before I used the Leitner system, I did not review my old answers nearly as much as I should have, certainly not every day. With the Leitner system, I was forced to constantly keep reviewing concepts that I had missed previously so that I would not do so again, which helped me stay on top of my personal challenges. Toward the last couple of weeks before the second time that I would take the LSAT, I consistently scored 170 or more on practice exams. It was also helpful that John and I got along very well on a personal level. He was considerate and polite but also witty and funny–I was very lucky that our senses of humor meshed so well. It was a huge bonus that even our tastes in sci-fi and fantasy were highly compatible as well. I owe my 171 score to John. He is a patient, precise, professional, perceptive, and entertaining tutor who knows the LSAT inside and out and wants to make sure that all his students do as well. Anyone hoping to defeat the LSATs would be lucky to have him as their tutor.
Ivy tutors are the best!!!
Thomas was one of the best tutors I have ever had. After trying a few other SAT tutors, I decided to stick with him. Thomas found different ways to help me understand specific topics and worked with me when I needed extra help. He's constantly researching new tutroing methods and implements them into his sessions. With his help, I was able to increase my SAT score by around 200 points. My parents even signed my sister up for tutoring with Thomas because they saw what an amazing tutor he was. After my SAT process was done, Thomas walked me through the college process and helped me with my essays. Because of him, I am going to college with a full scholarship and I will graduate debt free. Thomas is an amazing tutor and an amazing person. He builds connections with his students and their families that extend outside of the academic sphere. I could not be more grateful to Thomas for all that he has done for me and my family.
Gail is awesome, and the tutors are excellent.
Wonderful, professional, tutor. She brings warmth and kindness to her teaching. My daughter loves her tutoring sessions.
Dan is an absolutely fantastic tutor. He's a super knowledgeable, smart, easy-to-work-with tutor who really helped my daughter improve substantially on the ACT. I've used other tutors in the past for academic support for her and she always complained about having to go to lessons, but never so with Dan - she actually looked forward to seeing him each week. I was very impressed and would highly recommend him to anyone! Major thumbs up, both for his skills with students and his ability to achieve top scores on high-stakes tests like the ACT.
Luka worked with my son throughout his freshman year at NYU. We have worked with tutors previously and Luka has by far, been the most inspiring and dependable teacher/tutor that we have had the fortune of working with. My son, who is in the Pre Med/Health undergrad program will continue to work with Luka throughout his academic career. Our son's GPA went from a GPA of 3.0 to 3.8.~ we highly recommend Luka.
I think any adult who pays to study a test just goes to show how important the test is to the person who may be feeling uncertain about him/herself or perhaps some aspects of the test. Hence, I believe the greatest value of a tutor is his ability to motivate his students to the next level of learning and to feel confident in tackling the test. And that is exactly what I found in Fred. I was feeling apprehensive after attempting some questions on the mock GRE test. But now, with the support of Fred, I feel very confident and that confidence motivated me to want to do my very best. So from the bottom of my heart.. Thank you Fred for sharing my journey to a self actualisation need.
