I attended a wedding celebration for a friend at The Rhinecliff Hotel. This is where we met Nick from The Best of Both Worlds. The first thing we noticed was the big Photo Booth that our friends and other guests were waiting online for. We took part in the photo booth and we were very pleased with the props, the instant print out of clear pictures and we were amazed on how user friendly Nick's photo booth was. While getting our picture prints I met videographer who was placing a video camera inside the photo booth to record. I was curious to know what this was. The Videographer explained to me that this was an additional service for the groom and bride. Not only would we get our pictures taken, but he was preparing a slow motion video photo booth montage. This footage would be added along with a funny song, uploaded online, and a link would be given to the Groom and Bride to share with all the guests as an extra party favor. I was thrilled with the idea, and I was interested in knowing more about his services. He quickly introduced me to his wife who was the photographer. I turns out that this husband and wife team work with Nick and provide video and photography services. Along with this and the lights, video projectors, Nick does truly have the best of both worlds. We were so please with the entire presentation of my friends Wedding, that my fiancee and I have decided to book Nick and his team for our own wedding and we are also recommending him to 2 friends of ours who will be having birthday celebrations in early 2017. Best of Both Worlds has it all, DJs, Performers, lights, video screens, photo booth, video and photography services all under one umbrella. This certainly makes our life easier when it comes down to booking.

It was a pleasure working with John and his team. The quality of work is excellent and so is the customer service. John was very helpful and on point with everything. The video for my daughters first birthday is great. I will definitely use again for other events and will recommend to my friends and family that need a videographer for an event.

I needed a videographer for an out of town meeting. I posted my inquiry at this site. Lorray responded quickly and was available for my questions right away. I got exemplary service and could not be more pleased with my experience. They were a real pleasure to work with. They delivered a high quality product for a great price in my very short timeframe. It doesn't get any better.

Bin videoed my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. She was professional and pleasant, but I was worried that the video wouldn't be excellent quality because of the low light in the venue. Bin repeatedly asked to have the lights turned up and happily the video turned out nicely. My only real complaint is that Bin was more of an observer versus other videographers who tend to get people excited to be on camera.

Spike took our Engagement photos in Central Park last week, and the experience couldn’t be any better! We originally had a different date and plan in mind. But Spike was flexible and accommodated the changes in our plan. During the day of the shoot, Spike made us very relaxed. We felt at ease with his presence. He gave us directions on poses, but made sure we were comfortable with them. Spike also knows the park well, taking us to a number of his favorite locations. He was also open to our suggestions on shooting locations. We received the photos within a week of our shoot. My fiancée and I are very happy with them. They look amazing and I’m sure the photos will be our treasured memories in the years to come. One last note, we’ve reached out to a number of photographers, both on Thumbtack and elsewhere. Spike’s rate was very reasonable, especially more so now that we’ve received the photos and gone through the experience. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Spike for your photo needs!

Nate more than just a videographer he'll make your event look like a film. Nate had a great eye and works very unobtrusively. I've hired him for several of my events and will hire him again for sure. He's passionate about his work and it shows in the imagery and film like quality.

I asked Thumbtack for videography for a wedding and Crisitian was the first to reply with the cheapest offer. He also included a lot of service for the price he asked. We were sceptical at first because we never hired videographer before and know nothing about it but Cristian reassured us that everything will be perfect and we had nothing to worry about. He was very easy to communicate with, very responsive and polite. He contacted me few days prior the event to talk out last minute details. On the day, he arrived even earlier what made me feel less nervous on my big day. It was so easy to work with him, he made me understand that he is true proffesional in the work he does. I was wondering what I had to do for the video but Cristian explaied to me crealrly and showed examples which also made it easier for us. Cristian also had no problem staying longer for the event. I love his work, style and the fact that he usues most recent and best quality equipment necessery for best photogrpahy and videography. The best part is that we do not have to wait long to recieve pictures and video! As we are all so excited to see them, Cristian had couple of them ready the next day! I had a lot of complements and good comments about the photos Cristian made! I will absolutely hire his again and again for my future events and will recommend him to anyone who is looking for great quality, friendly open environemt in communication and inexpensive ! Thank you so so much! You trully made our day easier, I did not have to worry about anything and because of your work we have such great captured moments for the rest of our lives ! Thank you again! Best, Anna and David October 2016.

We absolutely LOVED working with the Neske couple! From getting ready, through the couple photo time at the beach to the reception they felt like they were part of our wedding party. When I signed up for Thumbtack this was my first time so I wasn't sure if the people on here were real or credible. When we met with our photographer we asked if he had any suggestions on videographers. XO Creative was 1 of the 3 he referred us to!!! How awesome, we knew right away we would go with Melissa and Steve. They work well with the photographers (they don't get in each others way) it was perfect. We enjoyed the drone video shots at the beach. We would refer them to any of our friends and future clients!

Our videographer was great. He was never in the way of anything with equipment and stuff. He was patient and considerate. He wasn't in a rush to leave or rushing me to pay him. He let us be and did his thing which I thought was very professional. Can't wait to see the video!

Anton was the perfect choice as videographer for our wedding! The video quality is incredible! Anton was not just on time, he was early and started filming right away! We have so much amazing footage of our big day and we are just so glad we made the choice to hire Anton! We are so excited to keep watching the footage to see new things and relive this amazing day. Anton was a complete professional. We barely saw him throughout the night yet he seemed to be everywhere getting footage of everything. He was extremely happy, pleasant, and positive and such a joy to work with. He did his job with such ease and kept us calm and collected and without any worries about our video. We knew we could put our trust in him and he went above and beyond. We cannot recommend Anton enough to anyone looking for a videographer. His work is excellent and you will absolutely not be disappointed. Thank you so much, Anton!! -Sean & Jeremy

From our first moment of contact I knew I was meeting a professional videographer. He responded almost immediately. I was impressed. I described my event to Michael in detail. It was a monument dedication ceremony for 15 army recruits that died in a plane crash the same day they were inducted. That date was 1961. It took nearly 55 years to dedicate these soldiers with a monument. This dedication meant so much to the still living families, and to the community. It was very important to have the right individual for this project. Someone who took great care in developing a cinematic production of an event that took nearly one year to organize from design, into construction, and right into the day of the dedication. There were too many family members still with a heavy heart, and too many members of the community with doubts in their minds of whether this was the closure of that fateful day. We needed a professional that we could depend on. Michael was that individual. The final footage was quite impressive. If you want that special event to be recorded for posterity, you'll not be wrong to hire Visitor-one Productions.

As a producer and news reporter for the last 8 yrs, I must say that working with Last Take Films has been one of the best experiences of my career. When a videographer and editor is able to carry out a producer's vision without much guidance, is any creative's person's dream. The long and short piece that was shot and edited by Last Take Films was interesting to watch. The extraordinary strorytelling came across seemlessy! If you are looking for a company that will deliver, look no farther because Last Take Films is all you need.

My husband and I booked Tim as our wedding videographer about two weeks before our wedding due to other arrangements falling through. It ended up being a blessing because Tim was so excellent to work with! Right from the beginning he was quick responding to emails and scheduled a phone call to discuss details about our wedding. We instantly knew we would be in good hands. On our wedding day itself, he was prompt, friendly and incredibly professional! That's not even to mention the quality of the video the provided to us afterward. We had all the edited videos and raw footage 6 weeks after the wedding and we happily lived through all the moments and it brought tears to our eyes. I would HIGHLY recommend Tim to family, friends or strangers! Hiring Tim was an incredibly fortunate finding and we couldn't thank him enough.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
