Tina and I had a 90-minute headshot session at the International Center of Photogrsphy in midtown Manhattan. I asked Tina to engage a makeup artist to prepare me for the shoot; while I think she did a good job, she could not stay for the shoot itself. The last two photographers with whom I have worked had theirs stay for the duration, and it was helpful to have the makeup rechecked and touched up - especially for a woman my age.
I think Tina is a really good photographer - and an artist in her own right. But sometimes her focus on expression and composition means that she doesn’t always see the details of her subject. There were numerous shots that she selected for my review that I couldn't use because a stray lock of hair was falling into my eye. I am not the one looking through the lens, and I can't see what the photographer does. One word, and I could easily have fixed it.
We also spent the majority of the session with me wearing the same blouse - even though we had selected 2 additional wardrobe changes. As a result, the number of usable photos in those two changes was somewhat limited.
We did come up with a number of really good headshots; Tina retouched my favorites herself, and I am having two of them reproduced as I write this. I appreciated the energy and encouragement that Tina brought to her work, and I would recommend her work to my fellow actors.

My experience working with Allison is one that I will never forget. From the time we had our first phone conversation, I knew he was exactly the kind of person I’d want to work with. Considering the fact that this was my first time taking ‘professional’ headshots, I only had a few expectations of what it would be like. He completely blew them out of the water.
What sets Allison apart from other photographers who do similar work is that he isn’t doing this exclusively for financial gain or to acquire any sort of reputation. He’s doing it because capturing moments and giving people a platform to visually express themselves is what fuels his soul. I cannot express how much I appreciate his patience and attention to detail. Within the EXTREMELY generous time frame he allowed me, I was able to work out all of my ideas and walk away with portraits that I believe perfectly capture my essence- not only as an actor, but as a young woman striving to be her most authentic self. Allison creates a space where anyone can feel safe to let their walls down, and to be completely vulnerable in front of the lense. He is not only a very gifted artist, but an incredible person as well. The quality of his work speaks for itself. I’m very much looking forward to the next time I get to work with him and I will continue to recommend him to all my actor friends (experienced and novice alike). You will most definitely not find a better value anywhere else. 10/10 would recommend and work with him again! 😁
