Jonathan Kalb Bio I have been a working professional for many years Have worked with many well known artists I from Blues, to Soul to Disco Funk, Rock &Roll etc. Among them Steve Miller, Tracey Nelson, Lightning Hopkins, Solomon Burke, Bo Diddley In addition I have fronted my own bands on the same bill with BB King, Luther Allison,Dr John, Johnny Copeland and other well known blues artists. Have performed and taught in more than 10 countries besides working throughout the US. I usually give 30 and 45 minute lessons on internet as it is more cost effective to give hour lessons in person and can come to student's home if in NYC Manhattan as I live outside of Manhattan. Alternatively I rent a rehearsal studio to teach in which costs the price of lesson plus studio. As an entertainer I love playing and singing and communicating that feeling to my audience. As a teacher I like to communicate knowledge and the passion for playing an instrument well. I enjoy seeing people improve on their instrument if they apply what they have learned. Music is life.

Jonathan played for a work celebration we were having and he was AMAZING! The setup went smoothly and he performed for about 3 hours. He even left us all CD's! Great performer, great music. Hire him if you want someone who knows what they're doing.

Jonathan Kalb has been my guitar teacher now for a little over a half a year and Im delighted to say, I am much more than pleased with my lessons; I cant wait until the next one comesthats how good. I took lessons previously and was OK with them, but found myself wandering and lacking a sense of commitment to the teacher and to my studies. Dry. Im not a kid anymore and was looking for a teacher who could work with my adult enthusiasm, excitement, my talent, and not be rooted to teaching me the pentatonic scales in all keys before we could get to some playing and having some fun, too... I was hoping for a teacher who could personalize his teaching skills, and for me, Jonathan came through with flying colors. Hes so much more than a One Size Fits All teacher; hes a real person reachable, able to identify my needs, my strengths and weaknesses, and takes this into full consideration during our lessons. Hes an experienced, talented teacher. Simple. Hes a person that really knows his stuff from musical theory to the many styles of playing, i.e., blues, jazz, folk, country and even rock; he can play and more importantly he can teach um all! Im an aspiring singer/songwriter and in addition to helping me define those strange chords Im playing, he inspires me to grow on. Oh, and one more thing: If your lesson is an hour long and theres something important happening, he wont cut you off - hell take the extra time needed to get you to the end of the measure, comfortably.

Just started and find that Jonathan is very talented and patient. Never felt this comfortable trying to learn guitar from a teacher before. I am an experienced player and can confidently say he can teach blues both pick and finger style as well as jazz and rock. Peace fellow musicians.. Darren.

We all enjoyed the selection of songs, the quality of play as well as the fact that all guests could sing and play together with the band. Jonathan Kalb and his base player played at my 50th birthday party. They were so good!! They really were excellent. My friends are still talking about the great band I had at the party. They sat in the garden and played and their music gave the place an almost magical atmosphere. They were extremely friendly and likeable. It was apparent that they enjoyed playing, which added to the good atmosphere. Thank you so much, Jonathan!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I normally charge $75 per hr when I teach at the student's or my home. If I teach out of a studio I have to pay $16 for the room's rental so half of this is attached to the price.

I listen to both the student's playing and also what they desire to learn.
