Greetings! I am a full-time professional performing musician in NYC, with a degree from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and am currently adjunct music faculty at NYU, Rutgers and Columbia University. Started teaching piano and woodwinds on the side for fun, and enjoyed it so much I’m now looking to expand my studio. I teach at home in Harlem (Lenox/127th St) and my price is $40/half hour, I’m experienced teaching kids and adults of all ages and ability levels. I provide a fun, friendly, informative atmosphere where the students are comfortable and challenged. Online teaching during Covid-19 proved effective, and it’s a wonderful solo activity for kids of all ages, and I offer online lessons as well.
I love experiencing the joy of my students discovering music and instilling a sense of accomplishment and discipline in my students. The study of music has shown to have important cross-training educational benefits. But most of all, learning music is fun!

My 8 year old son started piano lesson during covid. Mark allowed for virtual classes, which was so convenient. His friendliness and professionalism made him the obvious choice and my son loves his piano lesson. I am very impressed by how much he’s learned in such a short time. Mark is patient, playful and punctual and you can tell he has a true love for music. We’re thrilled to have found him!

My son has been with Mr Mark for almost 2 years. Mr Mark is very patient, responsible. He’s always willing to give more. During the pandemic, we had to choose virtual class with Mr Mark, but it didn’t reduce the quality of the lesson. In addition, Mr Mark always record the music that my son needs to practice after the class, so my son can better understand it. I think Mr Mark is a wonderful teacher and my son is very enjoyed every time when he has class with Mr Mark.

Mark approaches his students from where they’re at and works from there. He is extremely knowledgeable about technique and music in general (history, theory, styles). Mark is patient and supportive.

Mr. Mark is a wonderful teacher. My boys have been taking piano lessons with him since January. The transition to virtual classes was very easy. He is very attentive with both my boys. The kids have learned so much in the past 6 months and really enjoy and really look forward for their piano lessons with Mr. Mark.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$35/half hour in my home or via internet. $40/half hour in your home (Leonia vicinity only). I'm on the music faculty of NYU, Columbia University, and Rutgers University.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an active performer which gives my teaching an edge. I stress the basics of rhythm and accuracy, and expect weekly improvements from my students.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been playing piano since age 6, and woodwind instruments since middle school. My intense training at the Curtis Institute as a performer led me to a wonderful career as a musician. I find sharing music with students truly joyful. Teaching music is a vocation, a calling, it feels very natural to me.
